Stronger & Bolder JHCSC for Quality Tertiary Education

The JHCSC School of Agriculture, Forestry, and Environmental Studies (SAFES) successfully conducted its 2nd Commencement Exercises for the Certificate of Agricultural Science graduates on May 29, 2026, at the Guipos Gymnasium in Poblacion, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur. Carrying the theme “Fostering Academic Growth and Agricultural Awareness Towards a Sustainable Future,” the ceremony recognized the academic achievements and technical competencies of students under the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA) program.

As part of the celebration of the 27th Commencement Exercises of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC), the Pagadian City Extension Campus held its graduation ceremony on June 9, 2026, at the Mega Gymnasium, Provincial Government Complex, Dao, Pagadian City. Guided by the theme, “JHCSC Future-Ready Graduates as Drivers in Advancing A.C.H.I.E.V.E for Global Excellence,” the ceremony honored the perseverance, dedication, and achievements of 543 graduates who completed their respective academic programs.

The School of Teacher Education (STE) of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC)–Pagadian Campus celebrated the achievements of its graduating class and paid tribute to the unwavering support of their families during the Batch 2026 Tribute to Parents and Recognition Rites held on June 8, 2026, at Chandler Suites, Pagadian City. Anchored in the theme “Per Aspera Ad Excellentiam: A Journey of Perseverance, Sacrifice, and the Pursuit of Greatness,” the event served as both a recognition of academic accomplishments and a heartfelt tribute to the parents and guardians who played a vital role in students’ educational journeys. The program formally commenced with a processional march of graduating students, Latin honor awardees, parents, faculty members, and college officials.

The School of Computing Studies (SOCS) of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC), under the leadership of Dean Elsie S. Ybañez, honored parents and recognized graduating students during its Padayaw to Parents and Recognition Program held on June 8, 2026, at the Gift Pavilion along Rizal Avenue, Pagadian City. The event brought together SOCS faculty members, staff, parents, and graduating students in a meaningful celebration of gratitude, achievement, and shared success as the students neared the completion of their academic journey.

The School of Business and Management (SBM) of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC), headed by Dean Dr. Julito V. Mandac Jr., paid tribute to parents and faculty members and recognized graduating students during its Tribute to Parents and Faculty and Recognition Program held on June 6, 2026, at Pavilion Hall, Dao, Pagadian City. Anchored on the theme “Lakbay: Charting New Horizons,” the event gathered SBM program chairs, faculty members, staff, parents, and graduating students in a celebration of gratitude and academic achievement.

A total of 119 Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (BSES) students of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) were formally pinned and recognized during the 3rd Pinning Ceremony held on June 5, 2026, at the Guipos Municipal Gymnasium, signifying their readiness to undertake their On-the-Job Training (OJT) in various field offices under the theme “Flourishing with Purpose, Leading with Impact,” reflecting their commitment to professional growth, environmental stewardship, and meaningful service to the community. Leading the event were Dr. Emelyn D. Tormes, Dean of the School of Agriculture, Forestry, and Environmental Studies (SAFES), and Mr. Joe Michael J. Calanda, BSES Program Chair, who encouraged the students to uphold the values and standards expected of future environmental practitioners.

More than 50 graduate students showcased their thesis papers during the Third Graduate Research and Innovation Colloquium conducted by the JH Cerilles State College School of Graduate Studies on May 23, 2026, at the JHCSC-Pagadian Extension Campus, highlighting the institution’s continuing push to strengthen research culture and interdisciplinary academic innovation.

The School of Nursing (SON) of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) celebrated the 16th Pinning Ceremony of Batch Panacea on May 26, 2026, at the Pavilion Hall, Provincial Center. With the theme “Batch Panaceans’ Pins of Purpose: Embodying Excellence, Compassion and Resilience,” the event was spearheaded by SON Dean Prof. Marjo S. Malabanan, MN, with the support of Pagadian Campus Director Dr. Patricia D. Bahian and JHCSC President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales, represented by Dr. Vilma C. Grengia, Vice President for Academic Affairs.

In line with its commitment to producing career-ready graduates, the Guidance and Counseling Office of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Main Campus, under the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS), successfully conducted the two-day Employment Coaching & Mock-Job Interview 2026 on May 14–15, 2026. Anchored on the theme, “Career Ready Graduates: Building Confidence for Real-world Opportunities,” the activity aimed to strengthen the employability skills, confidence, and professional readiness of graduating students as they prepare to transition from academic life to the workforce. The initiative also served as a platform for students to gain exposure to actual recruitment and hiring processes while bridging academic preparation with professional employment demands.

The Commission on Audit conducted an Exit Conference for J.H. Cerilles State College to discuss audit observations, recommendations, and the status of implementation of prior years’ audit recommendations concerning the accounts and transactions of the institution for Calendar Year 2025. The conference was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales, College President, and was facilitated by Mr. Wilfredo M. Barnido Jr., Vice President for Administration and Finance, together with Ms. Jesu Marie Reducto, Finance Director. The activity was held on May 11, 2026, at the JHCSC Pagadian City Annex in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur, in compliance with COA Memorandum No. 2014-011 dated October 21, 2014.
