The National Arts Month 2025 was officially launched at the J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Pagadian City Extension Campus on February 10, 2025. A faculty member from the School of Teacher Education (STE), Ralph R. Magumpara, MSciEd, is currently participating in a distinguished international study exchange program at Chiba University, Japan, from February 5 to 11, 2025. This opportunity is supported by the Chiba University, Japan, which has played a pivotal role in facilitating his involvement in this global academic initiative. The program he participated in was the “Young Human Resources and Development of Teaching Materials for Physical Science Education” program, a key component of the Sakura Science Exchange Program.

Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, Chair of the Committee on Higher, Technical, and Vocational Education, sponsored several education bills to enhance tertiary education nationwide. Among these was the Senate’s approval on the second reading of House Bill No. 9315, on February 4, 2024, which seeks to upgrade J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) in Barangay Mati, Municipality of San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur, into a state university to be known as Zamboanga del Sur State University (ZDSSU), with corresponding appropriations.
