Stronger & Bolder JHCSC for Quality Tertiary Education

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Technical Panel and Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQAT) conducted the Monitoring and Evaluation of the Master of Arts in Education (MAEd) program of the J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) School of Teacher Education on August 20, 2026, at the JHCSC Hostel, Pagadian Campus, Pagadian City. The activity was organized by Dr. Joean Palahang, Dean of the School of Teacher Education, under the leadership of JHCSC President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales, with Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Vilma C. Grengia and Pagadian Campus Director Dr. Patricia D. Bahian joining key officials, faculty members, and personnel in welcoming and engaging with the evaluation team.

J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC), through its Quality Assurance Office headed by Ms. Joie Mercybelle F. Capitanea, conducted a two-day Institutional Accreditation Orientation and Workshop on August 13–14, 2026, to strengthen the College’s readiness for Institutional Accreditation by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP).

The J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) officially opened its 25th Foundation Month Celebration and ASEAN Month Celebration on August 10, 2026, through a synchronous program held across its Main, Pagadian, Lakewood, and Dumingag campuses. Anchored on the theme “PADAYUN JHCSC @25: Pride, Achievement, Diversity, Advancement, and Youth Oneness into New Frontiers,” the celebration marked a milestone in the institution’s 25-year journey while highlighting its commitment to academic advancement, cultural diversity, unity, and its continuing pursuit of universityhood.

J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) welcomed its first-year and transferee students through the PANUKAD Program 2026 on August 5, 2026, marking the beginning of their academic journey and providing them with a meaningful introduction to the institution, its services, and student life.

The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (OVPAA) of J.H. Cerilles State College convened an in-person consultative meeting on July 27, 2026, at the Conference Room, 3rd Floor of the IT Building, JHCSC Pagadian Campus, to strengthen preparations for the opening of the First Semester of Academic Year 2026–2027. Led by Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Vilma C. Grengia, the meeting brought together college deans, campus academic coordinators, directors, and other key academic personnel. It served as a venue for addressing academic and administrative concerns and ensuring the coordinated implementation of institutional policies, plans, and activities across the College’s campuses.

The J.H. Cerilles State College School of Graduate Studies (SGS), led by Coordinating Dean Dr. Patricia D. Bahian, conducted a Seminar-Workshop on the Review and Enhancement of the Manual of Operations and Handbook in Preparation for Additional Graduate Programs on July 28–29, 2026, at the JHCSC Hostel, Pagadian City Extension Campus.

The J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC), in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology–Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD), conducted the Project Inception Meeting and Workshop for the research project titled “Optimizing Productivity and Profitability of ItikPINAS: A Sustainable Approach to Duck Farming in Zamboanga del Sur” on July 13–14, 2026, at the Hostel of the JHCSC–Pagadian Campus.

The Health Services Unit of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) successfully conducted a two-day Basic Life Support (BLS) Training at the JHCSC Hostel, Pagadian Campus, bringing together clinic personnel, health staff, selected faculty members, and employees for an intensive learning program on emergency response and life-saving interventions. Spearheaded by School Nurse Joanne Happy C. Hadjirul, RN, DM, the activity aimed to strengthen the institution’s emergency preparedness by equipping participants with the essential knowledge, practical skills, and confidence needed to respond effectively during life-threatening situations such as cardiac arrest, choking, respiratory failure, and other medical emergencies before advanced medical care becomes available.

The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (OVPAA), headed by Dr. Vilma C. Grengia, convened School Deans, Campus Academic Program Coordinators, Campus Registrars, Campus Librarians, and the Curriculum and Instruction Director for the Mid-Year Cascades 2026 at the Conference Room, 3rd Floor of the I.T. Building. The activity served as a platform to cascade the key outcomes of the recently concluded Mid-Year Evaluation, Catch-Up Planning, Strategic Plan Alignment, and University Conversion Compliance Workshop, and reinforce the institution’s strategic direction toward universityhood.

The J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) hosted the Calendar Year 2026 Second Quarter Meeting and Member Institutional Visit of the Zamboanga Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development Consortium (ZIEERDeC), led by the Department of Science and Technology–Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) through the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office IX (DOST IX), at the JHCSC–Pagadian Extension Campus Conference Room on June 30, 2026, led by ZIEERDeC Consortium Director Dr. Marvin A. Maulion, who presided over the institutional visit and the second quarter meeting. The activity gathered representatives from member higher education institutions (HEIs) and state universities and colleges (SUCs) to strengthen research collaboration and advance regional innovation initiatives.
