The School of Agriculture, Forestry and Environmental Studies (SAFES) of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC), under the leadership of Dean Dr. Emelyn D. Tormes, held a tribute to parents and faculty and a recognition program on May 29, 2026, at the Guipos Gymnasium in Poblacion, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur. Anchored on the theme “Honoring the Hands and Hearts Behind Every Harvest of Success,” the event celebrated the achievements of graduating students while paying tribute to the parents, mentors, and educators who contributed to their success.
The event was attended by Dr. Trinidad C. Abapo, Main Campus Director, together with program chairs, faculty members, staff, and parents. Participating in the ceremony were graduating students from the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA), Bachelor of Science in Forestry (BSF), and Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (BSES) programs, who gathered to honor the individuals who played a vital role in their academic journey.
Serving as guest speaker was Ms. Charmaine A. Lao-ay, Municipal Agriculturist of San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur, and a proud alumna of JHCSC. In her address, Lao-ay shared her experiences and insights as a professional in the agricultural sector, encouraging the graduands to remain resilient, pursue excellence, and use the knowledge and values they gained from the institution to serve their communities and chosen fields.
As part of the program, students from the BSA, BSF, and BSES programs shared their success stories, rendered musical performances for their parents and instructors, and presented flowers and tokens as expressions of gratitude for their guidance and sacrifices. The presentations underscored the vital support provided by families and educators throughout the students’ academic journey.
The recognition program followed, honoring the academic accomplishments of the graduating students. The event celebrated perseverance, dedication, and excellence while reaffirming the important role of parents, faculty members, and mentors in shaping future professionals. It concluded with a spirit of gratitude and inspiration as the graduands prepared to begin the next chapter of their lives.
