Stronger & Bolder JHCSC for Quality Tertiary Education

The School of Graduate Studies (SGS) of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) actively participated in the seminar titled “Empowering Graduate Students Through Mental Health Awareness and Career Development” held on October 25, 2025, at the JHCSC HRM Hostel. The event was initiated by the Guidance and Counseling Office, led by Ms. Catherine D. Cabal, RGC, RPM, with the support of SGS Dean and Campus Director, Dr. Patricia D. Bahian. The Student Peer Facilitators (SPF) also played an essential role in organizing and preparing the day-long activity.

Cerilles State College (JHCSC) delegation proudly concluded the Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools (MASTS) 2025 Sports and Socio-Cultural Friendship Games on October 31, 2025, with an impressive collection of medals across various athletic and sporting events, reflecting the college’s unwavering dedication, teamwork, and spirit of excellence.

J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) delegation continued its winning momentum on the fourth day of the MASTS 2025 Sports and Socio-Cultural Friendship Games, hauling multiple gold medals in various sporting events.
In beach volleyball, Rey James A. Abasalo and Richard J. Recablangca displayed outstanding teamwork and skill to claim the gold medal, guided by Coach Id Palahang.

Showcasing outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills, Mr. Lloid Delos Santos, a Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd Mathematics I) student from the School of Teacher Education (STE) of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC), outperformed other contenders from various institutions across Zamboanga del Sur and emerged as the Champion in the 29th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) – Provincial Eliminations, held on October 28, 2025, at Four Queens Resort, Tuburan District, Pagadian City.

JHCSCians continue to display remarkable strength and determination on the second day of the Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools (MASTS) Sports and Socio-Cultural Friendship Games 2025, securing medals and top rankings in several significant events.

J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) delegation kicked off its campaign with enthusiasm and determination as the Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools (MASTS) Games 2025 officially began its sports and sociocultural competitions in Oroquieta City.

Five student researchers from the School of Graduate Studies (SGS) of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC), Mr. Jovert Entervencion Logronio, Ms. Apryll Jane B. Sabuclalo, Ms. Sittie Lyka Hasim Palwa, Ms. Jennifer Cordova Tan, and Ms. Glenn C. Claro, showcased their academic work at Salindunong 2025: The 3rd International and 17th National Conference on the Filipino Language, Literature, and Research, held from October 22 to 24, 2025. With the theme “Borders and Belonging: Language, Literature, Culture in Transnational Contexts,” the conference brought together scholars, educators, and students to explore how language and literature shape identity, culture, and social connections in both local and global contexts.

Faculty members from the School of Teacher Education (STE) of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Dumingag Campus, Dr. Marjorey C. Cabigas, Prof. Harvey M. Tangalin, MAEd, and Prof. Darlin Jane T. Balbastro, MAEd, represented the institution at Salindunong 2025: The 3rd International and 17th National Conference on the Filipino Language, Literature, and Research held from October 22 to 24, 2025. With the theme “Borders and Belonging: Language, Literature, Culture in Transnational Contexts,” the event brought together educators, scholars, and researchers from across the country and abroad to explore the evolving role of language and culture in shaping identity and belonging in a globalized world.

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM), headed by Mr. Mark Louie C. Martin, Director of DBM Region IX, successfully conducted a roll-out and on-site visit at JHCSC from October 20 to 24, 2025. The activity was part of the DBM-SUCCEED initiative, a collaborative program designed to streamline the budget process and enhance financial management systems in State Universities and Colleges (SUCs).

J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) has been officially recognized as a member of the Philippine Forestry Education Network (PFEN), Inc., thereby strengthening its commitment to advancing its forestry program. The Certificate of Membership was formally presented on October 23, 2025, at the RDE Hall of Visayas State University (VSU), Baybay City, Leyte, during the 2nd PFEN International Conference and General Assembly Meeting.
