𝐉𝐇𝐂𝐒𝐂 𝐁𝐒𝐀 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐬 𝟐𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬

The JHCSC School of Agriculture, Forestry, and Environmental Studies (SAFES) successfully conducted its 2nd Commencement Exercises for the Certificate of Agricultural Science graduates on May 29, 2026, at the Guipos Gymnasium in Poblacion, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur. Carrying the theme “Fostering Academic Growth and Agricultural Awareness Towards a Sustainable Future,” the ceremony recognized the academic achievements and technical competencies of students under the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA) program.

The commencement exercises were spearheaded by Ms. April Rose B. Carasca, BSA Program Chair, under the leadership of Dr. Emelyn D. Tormes, Dean of SAFES, with the support of Dr. Vilma C. Grengia, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales. SAFES faculty and staff, together with the graduates’ parents and families, gathered to witness the significant milestone in the students’ academic journey.

A highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of candidates for graduation, followed by the distribution of Certificates of Agricultural Science and the recognition of graduates. The event celebrated the dedication, perseverance, and accomplishments of the students as they completed the requirements of the certificate program

Serving as the guest speaker was Mr. Jurey Cris E. Ponio, OIC-Municipal Agriculturist Officer and a proud alumnus of JHCSC. In his message, Mr. Ponio shared his personal experiences and professional journey in agriculture, inspiring the graduates to remain committed to their goals and to contribute to the development of the agricultural sector. He encouraged them to continue learning and to apply their knowledge and skills to address the needs of their communities.

The commencement exercises underscored the importance of the Certificate of Agricultural Science as a pathway for students to gain essential knowledge and practical skills in agriculture, crop production, and agribusiness. The credential equips graduates with competencies needed for agricultural work while also serving as a foundation for further studies in the field. Through this initiative, JHCSC continues to strengthen agricultural education and produce graduates who can contribute to sustainable agricultural development and food security in their respective communities.
