Stronger & Bolder JHCSC for Quality Tertiary Education

Faculty members from the School of Teacher Education (STE) of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Dumingag Campus, Dr. Marjorey C. Cabigas, Prof. Harvey M. Tangalin, MAEd, and Prof. Darlin Jane T. Balbastro, MAEd, represented the institution at Salindunong 2025: The 3rd International and 17th National Conference on the Filipino Language, Literature, and Research held from October 22 to 24, 2025. With the theme “Borders and Belonging: Language, Literature, Culture in Transnational Contexts,” the event brought together educators, scholars, and researchers from across the country and abroad to explore the evolving role of language and culture in shaping identity and belonging in a globalized world.

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM), headed by Mr. Mark Louie C. Martin, Director of DBM Region IX, successfully conducted a roll-out and on-site visit at JHCSC from October 20 to 24, 2025. The activity was part of the DBM-SUCCEED initiative, a collaborative program designed to streamline the budget process and enhance financial management systems in State Universities and Colleges (SUCs).

J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) has been officially recognized as a member of the Philippine Forestry Education Network (PFEN), Inc., thereby strengthening its commitment to advancing its forestry program. The Certificate of Membership was formally presented on October 23, 2025, at the RDE Hall of Visayas State University (VSU), Baybay City, Leyte, during the 2nd PFEN International Conference and General Assembly Meeting.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) convened an inception and partnership meeting with JHCSC on October 23, 2025, at the JHCSC Hostel, Pagadian City Extension Campus, to present and discuss the Smarter Approaches to Reinvigorate Agriculture as an Industry in the Philippines – Centralized National Hub for Regional Operations (SARAI-CeNTRO) systems and technologies. The meeting aimed to introduce the Project SARAI initiative and explore potential research collaborations to promote agricultural development in Zamboanga del Sur.

Despite the rain, the opening ceremony of the Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools (MASTS) Sports and Socio-Cultural Friendship Games 2025 was successfully held, bringing together thousands of delegates from state universities and colleges across Mindanao in a grand celebration of camaraderie, talent, and unity.

J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Delegation, headed by Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales, College President, arrived today, October 25, 2025, in Tudela, Misamis Occidental, for the Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools (MASTS) 2025 Friendship Games and Socio-Cultural Festival to be held in Oroquieta City from October 25 to 31, 2025.

J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) participated in the 1st National Research, Innovation, and Extension Summit (RIEX 2025) organized by the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) from October 22 to 24, 2025, at the University Closed Gym, Sumacab Campus. Representing the institution were Prof. Zenon Matos, Program Chair of the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) program from JHCSC Dumingag, and Mr. Jaafar Omar, MSCA, a faculty member of the BSIT program from the Pagadian Campus. With the theme “Empowering Futures: Advancing Research, Extension, and Innovation through Emerging Technologies,” the event expanded on the success of the 2024 Regional RIEX Expo, bringing it to a national platform that celebrated innovation, collaboration, and technological advancement.

The J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) formally welcomed nine newly hired personnel during an oath-taking and onboarding ceremony organized by the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) on October 24, 2025, at the IT Building Conference Room on the Pagadian Campus. The program was spearheaded by HRMO Head Mr. Kim M. Borja, JD, under the leadership of President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales.

The Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC), under the Philippine Public Safety Academy (PPSA) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), paid a courtesy visit to the J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) — Pagadian City Extension Campus on October 24, 2025. Campus Director Dr. Patricia D. Bahian warmly welcomed the visiting team, led by JCINSP Mark Anthony S. Saquing.

The Community Extension Service Office (CESO) of J.H. Cerilles State College, headed by Dr. Joel M. Sabellano, Jr., Extension Director, officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Pantad for the second year of the Mangrove Growing and Rehabilitation Extension Project. The activity, which also featured a seminar on the Role of Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) in Coastal Management, was held on October 18, 2025, at the Audio-Visual Room, Engineering Building, JHCSC Main Campus.
