Stronger & Bolder JHCSC for Quality Tertiary Education

The J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) formally entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region IX and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Region IX on April 14, 2026, at the JHCSC Pagadian Campus IT Building Conference Room. The agreement marks the launch of a major extension initiative, College Education Behind Bars (CEBB), a TABANGE flagship program aimed at supporting the reform, rehabilitation, and reintegration of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).

The Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) 2-A and 2-B students under the School of Business and Management (SBM) successfully conducted a two-day mock fine dining restaurant activity at the JHCSC Hostel, Pagadian City Extension Campus, on April 13–14, 2026. The activity served as their midterm examination requirement in HM 113 Fundamentals in Food Service Operations under Course Professor Llanevie Azel Niez.

JHCSC School of Law held a consultative meeting on April 11, 2026, at the JHCSC Hostel, Pagadian City Extension Campus, and via Zoom to address key academic and administrative concerns affecting the School of Law community.

The JHCSC Board of Trustees (BOT) convened for its 1st Quarter Meeting on April 10, 2026 at the JHCSC Hostel, Pagadian City Extension Campus, following the unveiling of the outdoor LED wall of the JHCSC Pagadian Campus. The meeting was chaired by BOT Chairperson and CHED Commissioner Dr. Desiderio R. Apag III and gathered key officials to review and discuss institutional initiatives vital to the institution’s pursuit of universityhood.

JHCSC Pagadian Campus marked another milestone with the unveiling of its outdoor LED wall installed in front of the JHCSC Hostel on April 10, 2026, following the earlier unveiling of the LED wall at the Main Campus under the leadership of President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales. The installation signifies the institution’s continued commitment to modernization and effective information dissemination as it moves forward in its transition toward universityhood.

J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW), facilitated by Program Chair Khenny B. Colocar, RSW, MSW, participated in the JSWAP Inter-School and Social Work Day 2026 held on March 19, 2026, at Our Lady of Triumph Institute of Technology, Inc. in Tugas, Balangasan District, Pagadian City. The event was organized in partnership with the National Association of Social Work Education, Inc. (NASWEI) – ZAMSURGAY Chapter under the leadership of NASWEI President, Charlito B. Gayanan, RSW, and hosted by Our Lady of Triumph Institute of Technology, Inc. The celebration carried the theme “Co-Building Hope and Harmony: A Harambee Call to Unite a Divided Society,” emphasizing unity, shared responsibility, and collaborative action in addressing social issues.

JHCSC key officials, employees, and staff from the CMSE, Dumingag, Pagadian, and Main campuses gathered for the advance celebration of the 56th birthday of President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales on March 21, 2026, at his residence in Brentwood Subdivision, Kagawasan, Pagadian City. The celebration began with a Holy Mass, offering prayers and thanksgiving for the life, health, and leadership of the college president, followed by the program and festivities.

The School of Teacher Education (STE) of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) successfully conducted a two-day Design Thinking for Educators seminar-workshop on March 17–18, 2026, at the JHCSC Pagadian Campus Hostel. The activity, initiated by STE Dean Dr. Starr Clyde L. Sebial and supported by Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Vilma C. Grengia, aimed to equip faculty members with practical tools to address persistent classroom and institutional challenges. Anchored in the five-stage Design Thinking framework—Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test—the seminar emphasized innovative, human-centered approaches to teaching and learning.

The Office of the Internationalization and External Linkages (OIEL), led by Director Dr. Raymund A. Indangan, conducted an Information Session on the Manaaki New Zealand Scholarships Programme (MNZSP) on March 16, 2026, at the JHCSC Hostel, Pagadian City Extension Campus. The activity aimed to present academic opportunities for junior faculty, staff, researchers, and alumni to pursue postgraduate studies in Aotearoa, New Zealand, through the scholarship program.

J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) formally launched the construction of its new I.T. Academic Building through a groundbreaking ceremony held at the JHCSC AVR–eBuilding on March 9, 2026. The project aims to address the growing needs of the College’s academic programs, particularly in Information Technology.
