The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (BSES) Program, under the leadership of Program Chairperson Mr. Joe Michael J. Calanda, held its annual BSES Day on March 6, 2026, at the JHCSC Main Campus Gymnasium in Mati, San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur. The event was organized by the JHCSC Environmental Science Society (JESS), led by President Mr. Ian Rey Bulat-ag and guided by their adviser, Ms. Jo-ann R. Engaño.
The celebration featured a Hogwarts-themed sorting of students by year level: 1st-year students as Hufflepuff, 2nd-year students as Gryffindor, 3rd-year students as Ravenclaw, and 4th-year students as Slytherin. The day included a series of engaging activities, including interactive games and a lecture by For. Dexter T. Quadalquiver, who emphasized the importance of environmental awareness and conservation.
One of the event’s highlights was the Mr. and Ms. Enbaysay, where Mr. Jee Canalija from 1st-year Hufflepuff and Ms. JannieBabe Libron from 4th-year Slytherin were crowned winners. In the overall competition, the 3rd-year students representing the House of Ravenclaw emerged as champions, showcasing their teamwork and school spirit.
BSES Day served as a welcome break from regular classroom routines, allowing students to bond, explore their creativity, and deepen their appreciation for environmental science in a fun and interactive setting. The event highlighted the program’s commitment to holistic education by combining learning with meaningful engagement outside the classroom.
Soar high, J.H. Cerilles State College!
