J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) formally launched the construction of its new I.T. Academic Building through a groundbreaking ceremony held at the JHCSC AVR–eBuilding on March 9, 2026. The project aims to address the growing needs of the College’s academic programs, particularly in Information Technology.
The event gathered key officials and stakeholders, including Dr. Trinidad C. Abapo, Main Campus Director; Hon. Glendell I. Oyo-a, Alumni Trustee, representing Hon. Divina Grace C. Yu, Governor of the Province of Zamboanga del Sur; Engr. Archel B. Cambongga, Planning and Development Office (PDO) Director; faculty members and staff; and a representative from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Engr. Isabelo E. Elloren.
As part of the ceremony, participants took part in symbolic activities such as the Blessing of the Site, Donning of Hard Hats, Positioning for Groundbreaking, and Shoveling Soil, marking the official start of construction. In her remarks, Engr. Cambongga expressed appreciation to the provincial leadership, including Governor Divina Yu and the district’s congressional representatives, as well as JHCSC President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales, for their continued support and commitment to the project.
The new facility is expected to strengthen the College’s capacity to respond to the increasing role of technology in education and the workplace. Once completed, the I.T. Academic Building will provide a more conducive space for learning, innovation, and collaboration among students and faculty.
