Purple ribbons, smiling faces, and a strong sense of solidarity filled the JHCSC Main Campus Gymnasium on March 2, 2026 as the J.H. Cerilles State College community officially opened its Women’s Month celebration.
The ceremony was organized by the Gender and Development (GAD) Club students under the leadership of GAD Director Dr. Trinidad Abapo, who emphasized that the event was not merely ceremonial but a reminder of the continuing call for gender equality.
Students, faculty members, and school officials gathered early in the morning, and the gymnasium echoed with applause as the program highlighted the importance of women’s participation in society, education, leadership, and nation-building.
JHCSC President, Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales graced the event and delivered a heartfelt message reminding the community that empowering women begins with respect in everyday life. Addressing the audience, he said, “Ang mga babae ay dapat minamahal.” His message resonated strongly with students, emphasizing that appreciation for women should not only be celebrated during Women’s Month but practiced continuously.
Dr. Abapo shared that the kickoff marks the beginning of a month-long celebration consisting of advocacy activities, awareness programs, and student-led initiatives that aim to promote gender sensitivity and inclusivity within the campus.
For many students, the event served as more than a program, it became a space for recognition and belonging. The participation of key officials and the academic community strengthened the message that gender equality is a shared responsibility.
As the ceremony concluded, participants left the gymnasium carrying not only tokens and program materials but also a renewed commitment: to value women’s voices, protect their rights, and uphold dignity in everyday interactions.
The kickoff stands as the opening chapter of JHCSC’s continuing effort to build a safer, more inclusive academic community throughout the entire month of March
