Stronger & Bolder JHCSC for Quality Tertiary Education

Women employees of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) from various campuses—Main, Pagadian, Dumingag, and Lakewood—gathered for self-defense training on March 7, 2025, at the JHCSC Gymnasium in Mati, San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur. The event, themed “Stay Safe, Stay Strong: Practical Self-Defense for Women Employees of the JHCSC System,” was spearheaded by the Gender and Development (GAD) Office, led by its director, Dr. Trinidad C. Abapo.

In observance of Fire Prevention Month, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Regional Office IX – Pagadian City Central Fire Station conducted a symposium and forum at JHCSC Pagadian City Extension Campus on March 7, 2025. With the theme “Sa Pag-iwas sa Sunog, Hindi Ka Nag-iisa!” the event was facilitated by the Office of Student Affairs, led by Mrs. Janniece L. Magsayo, in collaboration with Mr. Joniel Calibo, NSTP Coordinator, and the Supreme Student Council (SSC) Officers, with the support of Dr. Patricia D. Bahian, Pagadian Campus Director.

The key leaders of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) are participating in the 38th Annual National Conference and General Assembly of the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), which kicked off today, March 5, 2025. The event runs until March 7, 2025, at Marikina Polytechnic College, Sta. Elena, Marikina City. This year’s conference carries the theme: “ELEVATE, EMPOWER, AND EXPAND QA IN HIGHER EDUCATION.”

The School of Business and Management (SBM) celebrated its 2-Day SBM Day 2025 with the theme “Divergent Dominance: Pushing Boundaries, Refining Abilities, and Showcasing Strength in Sports and Skills” at the J.H. Cerilles State College Pagadian City Extension Campus – Hostel from February 28 to March 1. The event was led by SBM Dean Dr. Julito V. Mandac, Jr., with the support of Pagadian City Campus Director Dr. Patricia D. Bahian.

The Board of Trustees (BOT) Finance Committee conducted their 1st Quarter Regular Meeting at the J.H. Cerilles State College – Pagadian City Extension Campus Conference Room, 3rd Floor, IT Building on March 3, 2025. The meeting was led by Hon. Maria Felicidad R. Guerrero, Director of NEDA IX, with guidance from Hon. Martin A. Wee, Director of DOST IX and Vice Chair of the JHCSC-BOT Finance Committee, with the support of JHCSC President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales.

The School of Law (SOL) at J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) celebrated the holy month of Ramadan by offering free meals for iftar, the meal taken by Muslims to break their daily fast at sundown, at the JHCSC Pagadian Campus Lobby on March 3, 2025. The initiative was led by Ms. Estella Marie N. Calib, former Supreme Student Council (SSC) President of the SOL, with the support of SOL Dean Atty. Romylyn O. Regidor. .

JHCSC, under the leadership of President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales, warmly welcomed the Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension (VPRDE) delegates from Jose Rizal Memorial State University (JRMSU) for a courtesy visit and collaboration meeting on March 3, 2025, at the JHCSC Hostel, Pagadian City Extension Campus. The visit aimed to foster academic partnerships and explore collaborative opportunities in research, extension, and resource generation.

The Supreme Student Council (SSC) of the School of Graduate Studies (SGS), led by President Mr. Ariel T. Sajulda and under the guidance of Dean Dr. Patricia D. Bahian, conducted a seminar on research writing tips, tools, and best practices on March 1, 2025, at the Conference Hall, 3rd floor of the I.T. Building, Pagadian City Extension Campus. The event aimed to equip graduate students with essential skills and strategies to enhance the quality of their research work.

The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) Faculty conducted a meeting to revise the BSIT curriculum, held at the School of Graduate Studies Library and Conference Room, 3rd Floor, IT Building on February 27-28, 2025. The meeting was facilitated by the BSIT-Pagadian Program Chair, Elsie S. Ybañez, MSIT, under the leadership of the School of Engineering and Technology (SET) Dean Perla A. Rivera, MSCE. The event aimed to address crucial updates and ensure the BSIT curriculum is up-to-date with the latest educational and industry standards.

J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Main Campus showcased the KAMAISAN FESTIVAL, a Filipino heritage-inspired Thanksgiving celebration during the corn harvest season. This event marked the culmination of the National Arts Month Celebration with the theme ‘Ani ng Sining, Diwa at Damdamin,’ held on February 28, 2025, at the College Gymnasium in Mati, San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur.
