Stronger & Bolder JHCSC for Quality Tertiary Education

The J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) community gathered for its first-ever General Assembly on March 14, 2025, at the Main Campus Gymnasium in Mati, San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur. Led by President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales, the historic event brought together regular employees, Contract of Service (COS), Job Orders (JOs), and Visiting Lecturers (VLs) from CMSE, Pagadian, Dumingag, and the Main Campus. The assembly aimed to strengthen communication, present institutional goals, and address employee concerns.

J.H. Cerilles State College employees from various campuses—Main, Pagadian, Dumingag, and Lakewood—graciously accepted President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales’ invitation to an advance celebration of his 55th birthday. On March 22, 2025, they gathered at his residence in Brentwood Subdivision, Kagawasan, Pagadian City, to honor his life, dedicated service, and visionary leadership. His family, friends, and neighbors also joined the celebration.

The J.H. Cerilles State College – School of Teacher Education (JHCSC-STE) successfully conducted the second session of its Research Capability Building Seminar Workshop Series for Department of Education (DepEd) teachers in San Miguel on March 22, 2025, at the E-Center, Poblacion, San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur.

In celebration of the International Day of Forests, the JHCSC-National Service Training Program (NSTP) from Pagadian Extension Campus, led by Director Joniel L. Calibo, spearheaded a mangrove planting activity on March 21, 2025, in Balabawan, Pitogo, Zamboanga del Sur. The initiative was conducted in collaboration with the Provincial Anti-Drugs Abuse Council (PADAC) of Zamboanga del Sur and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Pitogo, aiming to strengthen coastal protection through mangrove rehabilitation.

The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (BSES) celebrated BSES Day 2025 on March 21, 2025, at the J.H. Cerilles State College – Main Campus Gymnasium, with the theme “Waves of Change: Empowering Environmental Stewards.” The event, facilitated by the JHCSC Environmental Science Society under the leadership of Ms. Dawn Majan and with the support of BSES Program Chair Dr. Rosanilio M. Yagos, aimed to inspire action in environmental conservation while engaging the campus community in fun and educational activities.

J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) and Saigon Business School (SBS) have officially forged a partnership with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on March 19, 2025. Dr. Jerry B. Superales, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Resource Generation (VPRERG), represented JHCSC President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales in the signing ceremony. This agreement marks a significant step in building a collaborative relationship between the two institutions, focusing on academic exchange and mutual development.

J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC), Dumingag Campus Director, Dr. Moises Glenn G. Tangalin participated in the 6th International Conference on Research, Development, and Extension (RDE) Management Congress, held at Saigon Business School in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from March 18-20, 2025. The conference gathered experts and scholars from various countries to discuss research, development, and extension management advancements.

The 2nd-Year Bachelor of Entrepreneurship (BSEntrep) students from the School of Business and Management (SBM) presented their innovative products during the Product Launching 2025, held on March 17, 2025, at the JHCSC Hostel, Pagadian City Extension Campus. With the theme, “Unveiling the New Beginning: Pioneering Innovation, Shaping the Future,” the event aimed to highlight student-led business innovations. It was organized by BSTM II and BSEntrep III students under the guidance of Mr. Dexter Carl J. Corpuz, BSTM Instructor, and Ms. LLanevie Azel Z. Niez, BSE Instructor.

The J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) celebrated National Women’s Month 2025 on March 14, 2025, at the Provincial Capitol Gym, with the theme “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas.” Employees and students from the Lakewood and Pagadian campuses united for this significant event, which was spearheaded by the Gender and Development (GAD) Office Director, Dr. Trinidad C. Abapo. The event was facilitated by Ms. Charmagne Merontos, Pagadian Campus GAD Focal Person, with the support of Ms. Cristy Udjaji, CMSE GAD Focal Person. Its goal was to highlight the crucial role of women in all sectors of society and their contributions to building a brighter and more inclusive future for the country.

The JHCSC Gender and Development (GAD) Office, led by Director Dr. Trinidad C. Abapo, spearheaded the culminating activity in line with the celebration of National Women’s Month 2025 on March 14, 2025, at the Main Campus Gymnasium, Mati, San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur. Centered on the theme “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas,” the event fostered empowerment, renewed commitment, and a collective call to action for a more inclusive and equitable society.
