Stronger & Bolder JHCSC for Quality Tertiary Education

The J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) successfully conducted the 1st Commencement Exercises for the Certificate of Agricultural Science on May 30, 2025, held at the Main Campus Gymnasium. With the theme “Recognizing Skills, Honoring Growth: Advancing Agricultural Excellence,” the event celebrated the academic milestones and technical achievements of students under the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA) program. The ceremony was spearheaded by Dr. Emelyn D. Tormes, Program Chair of Agriculture, under the leadership of Dr. Jerry B. Superales, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Resource Generation, and Dean of the School of Agriculture, Forestry, and Environmental Studies (SAFES), with the support of JHCSC President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales.

Graduating students from the programs Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT), Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English (BSED-English), Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM), and Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies (BAELS) participated in the activity. Students from the Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship (BSEntrep) also observed the sessions.

The School of Business and Management (SBM) of J.H. Cerilles State College successfully conducted a two-day seminar workshop and team-building activity on May 26–27, 2025, at the JHCSC Pagadian City Extension Campus Hostel. Anchored on the theme “Innovate, Adapt, Thrive: Strategic Management in the Hospitality and Tourism Industry,” the event was spearheaded by Dr. Myrna V. Ceño, DBM-HM, as part of her course instruction in HM 125, TM 121, and ENTREP 118. The event aimed to equip third-year SBM students with practical knowledge and hands-on experiences in the dynamic field of strategic management.

A testimonial and retirement program was held at the JHCSC Main Campus Gymnasium on May 26, 2025, in recognition of the 27 years of dedicated service of Mr. Dante B. Bayocot, the College Registrar. The heartfelt celebration was attended by Mr. Bayocot’s family, friends, colleagues, and previous retirees from JHCSC, all gathered to honor his lasting contributions to the institution.

With the theme “Kulay-Kultura: A Journey Through the Vibrant Spirit of the Philippines,” the School of Business and Management (SBM) of JHCSC showcased Filipino heritage through “The Grand Buffet 2025,” held on May 23, 2025, at the JHCSC Hostel. The event was spearheaded by students from the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM), Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship (BSEntrep), and Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) programs as part of their culminating activity and final examination. The activity was supervised by their instructors, Mr. Dexter Carl J. Corpuz and Ms. Llanevie Azel Z. Niez.

The Extension Project Proponents Meeting 2025, “Strengthening Project Implementation and SUC Leveling Compliance,” was held at the J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) IT Building Conference Hall, Pagadian City Extension Campus on May 23, 2025. The event was led by Prof. Ricky A. Egos, Extension Services Director, in collaboration with Research Director Prof. Ruel S. Lasagas, with the support of the JHCSC President, Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales. The meeting served as a platform to reinforce institutional alignment with national standards for State Universities and Colleges (SUCs).

In an effort to advance transparency, efficiency, and sustainability in government procurement processes, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Regional Office IX conducted a two-day training workshop on Republic Act No. 12009, also known as the New Government Procurement Act (NGPA), at the J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Pagadian City Extension Campus Hostel on May 21–22, 2025. The activity was led by DBM Regional Director Mark Louie C. Martin, CPA, CESO III, and Supervising Budget and Management Specialist Mr. Giovanni O. Tabanao, with the support of the JHCSC President, Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales.

The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office (CHEDRO) and the Office of Programs and Standards Development (OPSD), in collaboration with the CHED Technical Evaluator for Nursing and the Regional Quality Assurance Team, conducted an evaluation visit for the Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) application of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program under the School of Nursing (SON) of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC). The activity took place on May 22, 2025, in the Conference Room, 3rd Floor, SET Building, Pagadian City Extension Campus.

The Commission on Audit (COA), headed by Atty. David Oliver C. Kong, COA IX Regional Director, conducted an exit conference for JHCSC on May 20, 2025. Held at the Conference Room, 3rd Floor, SET Building, Pagadian City Extension Campus, the conference aimed to discuss audit observations and ensure compliance with auditing policies and recommendations.

Executive leaders of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) convened at the Pagadian City Extension Campus Hostel on May 19, 2025, to present the Strategic Priorities of their respective offices’ Office Performance Commitment and Review (OPCR), which will be rated based on the attainment of their targets in accordance with the indicated performance measures for the period.
