Stronger & Bolder JHCSC for Quality Tertiary Education

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region IX, Zamboanga del Sur Field Office (ZDSFO), led by Regional Director Ms. Miraflor J. Casanes, conducted an orientation on April 4, 2025, at the J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Board Room, Office of the President, Main Campus, Mati, San Miguel. The orientation focused on the requirements and processes of the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) under Republic Act 10961 and provided insights into the various services offered by DOLE.

On April 4, 2025, Syntegral Global Solutions (SGS) representatives visited several JHCSC campuses, including CMSE, Dumingag, Pagadian, and Main Campus, to present career opportunities to students. The company emphasized its commitment to creating job opportunities aimed at benefiting both the community and students seeking employment, with a particular focus on generating additional income for local coconut farmers.

The J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Performance Management Team (PMT) conducted a meeting at the Pagadian Campus Hostel on April 3, 2025. The meeting focused on the Office, Division, Individual Performance Commitment and Review, and other key operational matters. The meeting was led by Planning and Development Office Director Dr. Cleofe Baterna Jr., under the leadership of Vice President for Administration and Finance Mr. Wilfredo Barnido Jr., with the support of President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales.

In honor of the invitation extended by Dr. Nelson P. Cabral, President of Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (ZPPSU), J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales attended the inauguration of the ZPPSU Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Building on April 2, 2025.

The Resource Generation Office, headed by Prof. Ruel S. Lasagas, Research and Resource Generation Director, conducted a Resource Generation meeting on April 2, 2025, at the JHCSC Conference Room, I.T. Building, Pagadian Extension Campus. With the support of Dr. Jerry B. Superales, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Resource Generation, the meeting aimed to ensure the efficient planning and execution of resource generation initiatives.

The Philippine Coffee Expo (PCE) successfully hosted the 12th Mindanao Masters Excelsa Cup Tasters’ Competition at the J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC)-Pagadian Campus Hostel on April 2, 2025. The event was organized and facilitated by Dr. Renato Sumania, Mindanao Master Competition Committee Head, Founder of the Filipino Bar Professionals and Innovators Association Inc., and the Mindanao Specialty Coffee Community, under the leadership of Mr. Ronald Yu, President of The Philippine Coffee Guild and Roasters’ Council Representative.

President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales officially received the hard copies of the Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) for the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) and the Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (BSABE) programs of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Main Campus on March 31, 2025, granted by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Region IX.

J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) took part in the Ceremonial Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Signing of the Agriculture & Fisheries Resources, Research and Extension for Development Network (AFRREDN), spearheaded by the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office IX (DA RFO 9). The event was held on March 28, 2025, at Hotel Guillermo, Pagadian City.

The Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), led by Director Jerry R. Redoblado, facilitated an Emergency Simulation Exercise covering earthquake response, crime incidents, and fire fighting at J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Main Campus, Mati, San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur, on March 28, 2025. The event was assisted by the JHCSC DRRMO Student Responders and Volunteers and was supported by Main Campus Director Dr. Trinidad C. Abapo.

The Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) 2-A and 2-B students from the School of Business and Management (SBM) successfully conducted a two-day mock fine dining restaurant at the JHCSC Hostel, Pagadian City Extension Campus, on March 26-27. This initiative served as their mid-term examination in HM 113 Fundamentals in Food Service Operations under Course Professor Llanevie Azel Niez.
