The Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools (MASTS) Friendship Games 2024 launched on November 24, 2024, at the Blue Oval in the Provincial Complex, Dao, Pagadian City. The event is led by MASTS President Dr. Nelson P. Cabral, with J.H. Cerilles State College serving as the host State University and College under the leadership of President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales. The games are in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Sur, featuring the theme โMASTS Games 2024: Overcoming Adversity; Celebrate the Richness of Culture and Promoting Inclusivity.โ
The opening ceremony was attended by notable figures including Taiwanese Ambassador Wallace Minn-Gan Chow, Zamboanga del Sur Governor Hon. Victor J. Yu, 1st District Congresswoman Hon. Divina Grace C. Yu, and 2nd District Congresswoman Hon. Jeyzel Victoria C. Yu, along with Board Members from the 1st and 2nd Districts who pledged full support for the event. Among the guests were the JHCSC Board of Trustees and presidents from over 34 state colleges and universities across Mindanao. The atmosphere was charged with excitement as participants came together to celebrate the competitions and the camaraderie they fostered.
Even though his visit was brief, Sen. Francis Tolentino, the guest speaker, expressed his gratitude for being part of this prestigious collegiate event. He remarked, โAllow me to commend your dedication to fostering meaningful connections and promoting the values of sportsmanship, cultural appreciation, and mutual respect.โ he stated.
President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales of J.H. Cerilles State College, known for his vibrant energy and engaging presence, warmly welcomed the attendees with a heartfelt performance. Not only did he deliver a sincere and inspiring message, but he also captivated the audience by showcasing his musical talent through a lively song. His performance brought surprise and joy, adding a personal touch to the event and leaving a lasting impression on everyone in attendance.
The MASTS Friendship Games, an annual event, unite more than 30 State Universities and Colleges across Mindanao to celebrate the shared spirit of sports, culture, and the arts. This yearโs competitions promise to be thrilling, with delegates striving for excellence, demonstrating outstanding teamwork, and proudly representing their institutions. The contests will showcase the athletesโ talents, dedication, and school spirit, creating an atmosphere of lively rivalry and camaraderie throughout the games.
