J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC), through its Student Affairs and Support Services (SASS) Team, successfully conducted a two-day Assessment and Planning Meeting on July 21–22, 2025, at the Pagadian City Extension Campus, Conference Room, 3rd Floor, SET Building. Spearheaded by Prof. Venus Avenido, Dean of Student Affairs, the activity focused on the final review of the SASS Manual and the formulation of strategies to enhance student-centered programs, with the guidance of JHCSC President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales.

Key participants included Dr. Patricia D. Bahian, Pagadian Campus Director; Dr. Trinidad C. Abapo, Main Campus Director; Atty. Princess Rosal B. Inclan, OIC-College Registrar; directors and designates from various offices; and SASS-affiliated faculty and staff from the Main, Pagadian, Dumingag, and Canuto campuses, all under the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs. The meeting fostered inter-campus collaboration and alignment of student services across the college system.

Day one featured the introduction of campus and office designates, followed by the presentation of a proposed organizational chart tailored for the student services structure. This laid the foundation for more synchronized roles and responsibilities within the SASS Team. The second day focused on a participatory workshop, where attendees brainstormed innovative, academically appropriate, and transformative programsβ€”shaping the core of the action plan for the upcoming academic year.

In his message, Dr. Rosales emphasized the need to prioritize student welfare through systematized services, digitization, and institutionalized academic committees. β€œClean and good governance starts with student affairs activity,” he said. He also highlighted the role of integrity and honesty in building a responsive student services system. Prof. Avenido, in her remarks, affirmed the team’s guiding philosophy, stating, β€œOur students, our partner; our partner, our students,” and expressed optimism in achieving harmony among campuses despite geographical separation.

The meeting concluded with a shared vision for the futureβ€”harmonizing designations, aligning programs with SUC leveling requirements, and building a strong foundation toward the institution’s long-term goal of universityhood. With the administration’s full support and the unified efforts of the SASS Team, the initiative marks a significant step forward in delivering quality, inclusive, and transformative student services at JHCSC.

Soar high, J.H. Cerilles State College!
