The School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) under the leadership of Dean Benjamin B. Mangila, held a heartfelt Tribute to Parents and Recognition Day on June 2, 2025, at the JHCSC Main Campus Gymnasium. The program carried the theme, “A Tribute of Gratitude: Honoring the Pillars Behind our Pursuits,” which set the tone for a celebration that recognized the unwavering support of parents and the academic achievements of students.

The event was graced by Dr. Trinidad C. Abapo, Main Campus Director; SAS Associate Dean Dr. Frederick P. Grengia; program chairpersons; faculty members; proud parents; and the graduating students of the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (BAPOLS), Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies (BAELS), and Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW).

In his welcome address, Dean Mangila highlighted the importance of the day, stating, “Today, we gather not only to celebrate your achievements but also to honor the pillars behind this success—our beloved parents, guardians, and faculty members.” He further congratulated the graduating students, saying their accomplishments reflected their perseverance and dedication.

Adding depth to the occasion, Mr. Dante B. Bayocot, the institution’s former college registrar who served for 27 years, graced the event as the guest speaker. In his message, he emphasized the significance of recognizing the love and sacrifices of parents, reminding students to always cherish the foundation built by those who stood by them throughout their academic journey.

The event showcased heartfelt messages of gratitude from selected student representatives of each program, highlighting the deep appreciation for those who supported their academic journey. A symbolic offering of gifts was presented to honor parents and guardians, followed by the awarding of academic recognitions by the respective program chairpersons to outstanding graduating students.

Recognition was also given to non-graduating students who earned a place on the Dean’s List. Serving as both a culminating celebration for the graduating class and a touching tribute to the unwavering support of parents, guardians, and educators, the event embodied the spirit of gratitude and achievement.
