Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) cadets from various institutions participated in the Steel and Discipline firing activity at the RMFB9 Regional Center, Police Regional Office 9, Barangay Balintawak, Pagadian City. The event, conducted on May 18, 2025, was facilitated by TSg Joseph D. De Guzman, Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge, alongside LT Elmer A. Desio of the Philippine Air Force. It was designed to promote responsible firearm handling and to introduce students to the fundamentals of marksmanship in a controlled and professional environment.

Cadets from Philippine Technological and Marine Sciences, Inc. (PTMS), Western Mindanao State University (WMSU), and J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) actively participated in the training. Mr. Juniel Calibo, NSTP Coordinator of the Pagadian City Extension Campus, supervised JHCSC cadets. The facilitators covered essential topics including proper shooting stance, firearm safety protocols, and the key dos and don’ts of handling a rifle. After the briefing, all cadets were given the chance to handle and fire a rifle under close supervision, reinforcing their understanding through practical experience.

The activity provided students with more than just technical training; it also reinforced key values such as discipline, focus, and accountability. By engaging in hands-on experience under the supervision of military professionals, the cadets gained confidence and a deeper understanding of their roles as future public servants and defenders of peace and order.

Soar high, J.H. Cerilles State College!
