Stronger & Bolder JHCSC for Quality Tertiary Education

The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (BSES) Program, led by Dr. Rosanilio M. Yagos, BSES Program Chair, with the support of SAFES Dean Dr. Jerry B. Superales, conducted its 2nd Pinning Ceremony for Batch Simpan on June 11, 2025, at the JHCSC Main Campus Gymnasium in Mati, San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur. Themed “Igniting Change: Turning Environmental Science Into Action,” the event gathered faculty, staff, and 3rd-year students from BSES 3 – Air and BSES 3 – Water alongside their proud parents.

The J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Main Campus Gymnasium shimmered with elegance and celebration on June 10, 2025, as the graduating students of Batch Hiraya gathered for their Seniors’ Ball. Bearing the theme “Into the Vision, Beyond the Stars,” the event marked a milestone in the students’ academic journey. The ball was spearheaded by Batch President Mr. Jumil Ceballos, under the leadership of Dr. Jonno E. Tan, Dean of the Office of Student Affairs Services (OSAS), and with the support of Main Campus Director Dr. Trinidad C. Abapo.

The Bachelor of Science in Forestry (BSF) program, led by its Program Chair, For. Nomar A. Ramoncito held its first Pinning and Send-off Ceremony with the theme, “From Classrooms to Canopies: Nurturing Future Foresters in the Field.” The event brought together 39 third-year BSF students, who will soon begin their On-the-Job Training (OJT), along with their proud parents, at the J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Gymnasium in Mati, San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur, on July 12, 2025.

In partnership with the Internationalization Office, led by its director, Dr. Wendell Glenn P. Cagape, the School of Graduate Studies (SGS), led by Dean Dr. Patricia D. Bahian, conducted a virtual lecture titled “Resisting Native Speakerism in ELT: ELF and Decolonial Possibilities for Philippine English” on June 11, 2025, via Zoom. The event was facilitated by JHCSC Associate Professor IV, Mr. Carlo Rule, and attended by graduate studies students.

The School of Business and Management (SBM) of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) – Pagadian City Extension Campus is now officially in possession of the hard copies of the Certificates of Program Compliance (COPC) for all three of its academic programs, signifying 100% compliance with CHED requirements.

The Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) recently participated in a major professional gathering—the 42nd Association of Certified Public Accountants in Mindanao (ACPAMIN) Conference and the 31st Mindanao Geographical Area Office (MGAO) Meeting. The event, hosted by the PICPA Bukidnon Chapter, took place on May 29–30, 2025, at the People’s Hall in the New City Hall of LGU Malaybalay, located in Barangay Casisang, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon. Carrying the theme “Rooted in Values, Growing in Excellence,” the conference was anchored in the PICPA core philosophy, VALUES ABOVE ALL, which stands for Verily, Acceleration, Leadership, Ultimate, Excellence, and Solidarity.

In a continuing effort to promote and preserve Filipino cultural heritage through traditional dance, two faculty members from J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) participated in the 43rd National Folk Dance Workshop and Panuhid organized by the Samahang Tagapagtaguyod ng Katutubong Sayaw ng Pilipinas (STKSP), held from June 1 to 7, 2025, at the South Cotabato Gymnasium and Cultural Center.

J.H. Cerilles State College President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales, together with Planning and Development Director Dr. Cleofe A. Baterna Jr., is currently participating in the First SUCs Executive Forum 2025, held from June 9 to 11 and hosted by Jose Rizal Memorial State University in Dipolog City. The forum gathers Presidents of State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) nationwide, along with their respective assistants, under the chairmanship of Commissioner Desiderio R. Apag III.

J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) – School of Teacher Education (STE) paid homage to the unwavering support and sacrifices of parents during its “Tribute to Parents and Recognition Rites” for the Class of 2025, held on June 9, 2025, at the college gymnasium. With the theme “Roots of our Dreams, Pillars of our Journey: A Tribute to our Beloved Parents,” the ceremony celebrated the vital role of parents in shaping the future educators of the nation.

The School of Agriculture, Forestry and Environmental Studies (SAFES), under the leadership of Dr. Jerry B. Superales, SAFES Dean and Vice President for Research, Extension, and Resource Generation (VPRERG), hosted a heartfelt tribute to parents and ring hop ceremony on June 7, 2025, at the Mega Gym, Provincial Sports Complex, Dao, Pagadian City.
