The School of Nursing (SON) of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC), led by Dean Prof. Marjo Malabanan, held its 16th Cap and Badge Investiture and Candle-Lighting Ceremony on September 28, 2025, at the Pavilion Hall, Provincial Center, Dao. This milestone formally marks the official transition of 148 Batch Exorian student nurses from classroom learning to clinical practice.

With the theme “Guiding Light, Steadfast Heart, Nurturing Resilience in Service,” the ceremony featured Dr. Laurence L. Garcia, Professor IV at Cebu Normal University–College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences, as guest speaker.

During the program, Dr. Jerry B. Superales, JHCSC Vice President for Research, Extension, and Resource Generation, formally accepted the candidates for investiture as presented by Dean Malabanan, underscoring the college’s confidence in their readiness for clinical training.

The imposition of caps and badges was led by nursing professionals Denise A. Romanillos, MAN, Chief Nurse, and Richel G. Nacua, MN, of Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center; Nadria O. Sindatoc, Admitting Head; Jamaica B. Roque, ER Head Nurse; and Maria Celina G. Acierto, Nurse Trainer, all from Aisah Medical Hospital; and Glyn S. Jumalon, MN, Assistant Chief Technical Designate of the City Health Office.

The candle lighting ceremony was also held to honor Florence Nightingale’s legacy. It also affirms the Batch Exorians student nurses’ dedication to compassionate care, ethical practice, and lifelong commitment to the profession as they carried the symbolic light.

Soar high, J.H. Cerilles State College!
