The Office of the Internationalization and External Linkages (OIEL), led by Dr. Raymund A. Indangan, OIC Director, spearheaded a Capacity-Building Workshop on Internationalization of Higher Education: Impact on Quality and Sustainability on September 26, 2025, at the JHCSC Hostel, Pagadian City Extension Campus.
Carrying the theme, โForging the Path to World-Class Status for JH Cerilles State College,โ the workshop convened campus directors, deans, and program chairs from across the institution. The activity served as a platform to align JHCSC leaders on strategies to strengthen the collegeโs global competitiveness and sustainability.
Highlighting the significance of the endeavor, Dr. Vilma C. Grengia, Vice President for Academic Affairs, through her representative Ms. Febe Keith Jumoc, Curriculum and Instruction Director, stressed that internationalization is a strategic priority vital for achieving SUC Level III and the institutionโs aspiration for universityhood. She further assured that the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs will continue to provide support in advancing internationalization initiatives.
Adding depth to the discussions, Dr. Gaudencio C. Petalcorin, Jr., University Focal Person for Global Reputation at MSU-IIT and member of the CHED Internationalization National Review Committee, served as guest speaker. He delivered presentations on โTowards a World-Class Higher Education Institutionโ and โInternationalization of Higher Education Institution,โ complementing open forums that allowed participants to exchange perspectives and raise relevant concerns.
JHCSC takes another concrete step toward its vision of becoming a world-class higher education institution through this initiative. The workshop highlighted that internationalization elevates institutional quality and sustainability and strengthens the collegeโs preparations for its transition to university status.
