J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC), through its Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), conducted a three-day training for Student Volunteers from September 25 to 27, 2025, at the Main Campus College Gymnasium. The initiative, led by Director Mr. Jerry R. Redoblado, aimed to equip students with the essential skills necessary for disaster preparedness, response, and recovery.
The training highlighted the vital role of student volunteers in promoting preparedness and resilience within the college and surrounding communities. It also aligns with the frameworks and standards of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), ensuring its relevance, credibility, and sustainability.
During the training, participants gained knowledge on Risk and Hazard Identification, Basic Life Support, Patient Casualty Management and Handling, Bandaging and Splinting, and Mass Casualty Incident Management. They also applied their learnings through Hands Group Training, empowering them to actively contribute to campus DRRM programs and serve their communities during emergencies.
Through initiatives like this, JHCSC enhances campus safety and disaster preparedness. As a higher education institution committed to holistic student development and community resilience, it also cultivates proactive, responsible, and civic-minded student leaders who can serve as agents of change in building a culture of readiness and service.
The JHCSC-DRRMO extends its profound gratitude to Campus Director Dr. Trinidad C. Abapo, Vice President for Administration and Finance Mr. Wilfredo M. Barnido Jr., and College President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales for their unwavering support, which made the three-day training for student volunteers possible.
Soar high, J.H. Cerilles State College!
