Stronger & Bolder JHCSC for Quality Tertiary Education

The Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools (MASTS) Friendship Games 2024 launched on November 24, 2024, at the Blue Oval in the Provincial Complex, Dao, Pagadian City. The event is led by MASTS President Dr. Nelson P. Cabral, with J.H. Cerilles State College serving as the host State University and College under the leadership of President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales. The games are in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Sur, featuring the theme “MASTS Games 2024: Overcoming Adversity; Celebrate the Richness of Culture and Promoting Inclusivity.”

The Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools (MASTS) Event Management Team met in the morning today at the Command Center in the Provincial Complex Dao, Pagadia City, Zamboanga del Sur, to finalize preparations for the upcoming MASTS Friendship Games 2024, scheduled for November 24-29, 2024. The meeting focused on ensuring that all aspects of the event, from logistics to security, are in place for a smooth and successful experience for all participants.

The Mr. and Ms. MASTS 2024 candidates officially kicked off their pageant journey with a sashing ceremony and press conference held today, November 23, 2024, at the 3rd Floor Conference Room of the I.T. Building, JHCSC Pagadian Extension Campus. The JHCSC Pageant Committee organized the event, co-chaired by Dr. Julito V. Mandac Jr. and Mr. Ernesto B. Medina Jr., marking the beginning of an exciting competition.

A solidarity meeting was held at the DAO Mega Gym in the Provincial Sports Complex to discuss essential details regarding the upcoming contest, including the venue, time, guidelines, and qualification criteria. The meeting was organized under the leadership of JHCSC President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales, with the support of Hon. Glendell I. Oyo-a, JHCSC Alumni Trustee and Event Management Commander, representing the Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Sur.

In line with the Adopt-An-Estero Program and observance of National Clean Air Month, Environmental Awareness Month, and Climate Change Consciousness Week, the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) IX led the Fourth Quarter clean-up at Balangasan River (Highway Bridge Area) in Pagadian City on November 22, 2024. The event was organized by the Department of Environmental and Natural Resources, Engr. Alex D. Jimenez, EMB IX Regional Director, with the support of Dr. Patricia D. Bahian, Pagadian Campus Administrator.

The JHCSC Information and Public Affairs Office (IPAO), spearheaded by Mrs. Edelyn M. Pelaez, Officer-in-Charge, convened with student publication teams—The Journey, The Heights Courier, and The Dumingag Insider—at the JHCSC Mock Court Room, Pagadian Extension Campus, for the final coaching session and distribution of tasks. Held today, November 22, 2024, the gathering aimed to ensure effective coverage of the upcoming MASTS Friendship Games 2024.

The Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) has finished evaluating two programs at the Main Campus and one at the Dumingag Campus. The agency has submitted its Board of Action

The JHCSC Gender and Development (GAD) Office, led by Director Dr. Trinidad C. Abapo, hosted the 4th Quarter Regular Meeting of the Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC) IX on November 19, 2024. The gathering took place at the Kalikasan Assembly Hall, NEDA IX Building, within the President Corazon C. Aquino Regional Government Center in Balintawak, Pagadian City.

The School of Graduate Studies (SGS) of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Dumingag Campus held its SGS Day 2024 on November 16 at Dapiwak. The event, themed “Relevance, Inclusivity, Sustainability, and Excellence (RISE) in Graduate Education: Transforming the Education Landscape for a Sustainable Future,” was spearheaded by Dr. Benjamin B. Mangila, Chairperson of the MAEd Educational Administration Program, and Dr. Jeffrey P. Villaver, Chairperson of the MagDev Program. The event was supported by Dr. Patricia D. Bahian, SGS Dean and Dr. Moises Glenn G. Tangalin, Campus Director of Dumingag—the event aimed to highlight the role of graduate education in promoting sustainability and community development.
