The Dance Arts Competition of PHELEMET 2025 at J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Main Campus took center stage on April 10 at the College Gymnasium in Mati, San Miguel. Faculty, staff, and students gathered to support their teams with lively cheers and celebrated the spirit of unity and artistic expression within the JHCSC community.
A panel of experts meticulously judged the competition, chaired by Mr. Odysso D. Oyales, Executive Council Member of the National Committee on Dance under the National Commission on Culture and the Arts (NCD-NCCA). Each performance on the dance floor—from the elegance of Dancesport to the rich storytelling of Indigenous and Folk Dance to the vibrant energy of Street and Contemporary styles—was fueled by passion.
Competing in the event were the Blue Wolves (School of Teacher Education), Green Bulls (School of Agriculture, Forestry, and Environmental Studies), Pink Panthers (School of Business and Management & School of Criminal Justice Education), White Serpents (School of Nursing & Pagadian BSIT), Red Dragons (School of Engineering and Technology), and Yellow Tigers (School of Arts and Sciences).
The Pink Panthers dominated the competition, earning championship titles in two Dancesport categories (Latin and Modern), as well as in Indigenous and Folk Dance and Contemporary Style. The Green Bulls claimed the championship in the Street Dance category, while the Blue Wolves emerged as champions in the Dancesport Third Kind category.
During the event, winners of previously held competitions were also announced: the White Serpents were named champions in the Bench Yelling competition, and the Blue Wolves took the title in the Power Dance contest. Both events were conducted during the opening of the sports and socio-cultural festival on April 8, 2025.
The incredible performances showcased by the dancers were a testament to the talent within JHCSC—proving they have what it takes to compete in national competitions.
Soar high, J.H. Cerilles State College!
