Stronger & Bolder JHCSC for Quality Tertiary Education

The J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Guidance Office formally held the ceremonial soft launching of Project DUYOG—Developing an Understanding of Youth for Optimal Growth—on April 23, 2025, at the JHCSC Main Campus Audio-Visual Room(AVR). The initiative was launched by JHCSC Guidance Counselor Ms. Jonah T. Salaguste, RPm, RGC, with facilitation from the Student Peer Facilitator (SPF) Organization, led by President James F. Gudmalin. The event carried the theme “Empowering Minds, Strengthening Communities: Building Resilience Through Guidance and Support” and was fully supported by the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA), Dr. Vilma C. Grengia.

The State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) 2025 formally opened on April 22, 2025, at Camiguin Polytechnic State College (CPSC), with colorful ceremonies and a sporting spirit as student-athletes from all over the country came together for the annual national games.

The J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) marked Earth Day 2025 with a vibrant celebration on April 22, 2025, at the JHCSC Main Campus, Gymnasium, spearheaded by the School of Agriculture, Forestry, and Environmental Studies (SAFES) JHCSC Main Campus, Gymnasium. The event was led by Ms. Dawn Majan, President of the JHCSC Environmental Science Society, under the guidance of Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (BSES) Program Chair Dr. Rosanilio M. Yagos, with the support of Main Campus Director Dr. Trinidad C. Abapo. The celebration aimed to promote environmental awareness and action among the academic community.

The 2025 National State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) Games unofficially opened during a solidarity meeting intended to promote unity among officials, delegates, and coaches on April 22, 2025, in the beautiful province of Camiguin.

Personnel from the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) – Western Mindanao Regional Field Office visited the J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Pagadian City Extension Campus on April 22, 2025. The purpose of their visit is to conduct a compliance inspection and orientation in line with Republic Act 11032, also known as the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act.

The Performance Management Team (PMT) members convened on April 15, 2025, at the JHCSC Hostel, Pagadian City Extension Campus, to finalize performance planning documents for the upcoming fiscal year. Led by JHCSC President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales, the meeting provided a platform to address key concerns and align strategic actions aimed at further strengthening the institution’s performance-based management system.

J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Main Campus Gymnasium was filled with energy and excitement during the PHELEMET 2025 Culmination held on April 11, 2025. The event carried the theme “Padayun, Pamagap, and Ghepeselabuk,” which translates to Continue, Tolerance, and Unity. Spearheaded by Sports Director Dr. Buena D. Calunsag and Socio-Cultural and Performing Arts Director Mr. Joseph B. Salimbangon, the celebration was made possible with the support of JHCSC Main Campus Director Dr. Trinidad C. Abapo and under the leadership of JHCSC President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales.

The Dance Arts Competition of PHELEMET 2025 at J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Main Campus took center stage on April 10 at the College Gymnasium in Mati, San Miguel. Faculty, staff, and students gathered to support their teams with lively cheers and celebrated the spirit of unity and artistic expression within the JHCSC community.

J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) officially marked the opening of this year’s Sports and Socio-Cultural Festival—PHELEMET 2025—on April 8, 2025, at the Main Campus in Mati, San Miguel. The Sports and Socio-Cultural Committee organized the festival, with Sports Director Dr. Buena D. Calunsag and Socio-Cultural and Performing Arts Director Mr. Joseph B. Salimbangon leading the initiative. The event, running from April 7 to 11, embraces the theme: “PHELEMET: Padayon (Continue), Pamagap (Tolerance), Ghepesalabuk (Unity),” reflecting the values of perseverance, respect, and solidarity.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region IX, Zamboanga del Sur Field Office (ZDSFO), led by Regional Director Ms. Miraflor J. Casanes, conducted an orientation on April 4, 2025, at the J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Board Room, Office of the President, Main Campus, Mati, San Miguel. The orientation focused on the requirements and processes of the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) under Republic Act 10961 and provided insights into the various services offered by DOLE.
