The School of Criminal Justice Education (SOCJE) of JHCSC Main Campus conducted its annual Recognition Rites and Inter-agency Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing on September 20, 2024, at JHCSC Main Campus Gymnasium. Principal attendees for the said program are some law enforcement stakeholders from regions of Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Region IX, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Region IX, Zamboanga del Sur Maritime, and several Municipal Police Stations.
As part of the 124th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary, JHCSC participated in a nationwide tree-growing initiative on September 20, 2024, in Barangay Tawagan Sur, Pagadian City. With the theme βMalasakit sa Kalikasan, Malasakit sa Lingkod Bayani,β this initiative aims to positively impact the environment and promote a greener future for the next generations.
Regional Director of Philippine Information Agency Region IX (PIA-IX), Ms. Noemi B. Edaga, along with the PIA-ZDS Staff Mr. Harvy T. Bangayan, Information Officer, and Ms. Clennkei C. PeΓ±alosa, Government Information Center Coordinator, conducted a courtesy visit at J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Pagadian Annex on September 19, 2024, facilitated by the Public Affairs Office staff accompanied by Dr. Joel M. Sabellano, Jr., Chief Administrative Officer. During the visit, the potential areas of collaboration between PIA and JHCSC were discussed, and insights about the formation of iVolunteers (iVolts) within the institution were explored.
J.H. Cerilles State College spearheaded its first-ever Mobile Kumustahan that coincided with the 124th Anniversary of the Philippine Civil Service under the theme “Transforming Public Service in the Next Decade: Honoring Agile and Future-Ready Servant Heroes.” It started last September 18, 2024, at the JHCSC Dumingag Campus and continues today at the JHCSC Lakewood Campus.
President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales participated in the Pre-Plenary Budget Hearing and Plenary Deliberation for the FY 2025 Budget Proposal of State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) on September 18, 2024 at the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City. The forum addressed crucial funding allocations and institutional priorities, focusing on aligning budgetary provisions with the educational and developmental needs of SUCs nationwide.
The JHCSC Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) Office efficiently arranged a two-day training session and workshop on Republic Act 12009, known as the New Government Procurement Act, on September 16-17, 2024. The event was designed to heighten participants’ understanding and application of the updated rules on procurement.
The Community Extension Service Office (CESO) thru the School of Agriculture, Forestry and Environmental Studies( SAFES), in partnership with the Women Environmental Defender Association (WEDA) and the Barangay Council of Pantad, conducted a Mangrove Planting and Rehabilitation Activity today, September 14, 2024, in Barangay Pantad, Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur, which aims to significantly boost environmental awareness in preserving the mangrove ecosystem and its vital role in protecting the coastlines.
Strong winds and heavy rainfall hit Pagadian City today, September 13, 2024, and caused significant damage within the perimeter of the JHCSC Pagadian Annex. A power pole fell right in front of the JHCSC Pagadian Annex, triggering a domino effect that resulted in the collapse of all other nearby power poles on that street. A nearby tree was also toppled due to the incident.
Dr. Rody P. Garcia, Regional Director of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) IX, visited J.H. Cerilles State College as a resource speaker on September 13, 2024, along with Engr. Joseph Lou C. Sta. Teresa, OIC-Chief Education Program Specialist (CHED-IX). The meeting, held at the JHCSC Board Room in Mati, San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur, focused on the orientation for JHCSCβs transition to university status and planning the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) Congress.
