The School of Teacher Education (STE), under the leadership of Dean Dr. Starr Clyde S. Sebial, hosted a Consultation, Orientation, and Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing on February 6, 2025, at the JHCSC Main Campus Gymnasium in Mati San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur. The event brought together faculty, staff, students, parents, and institutional partners to discuss academic initiatives and strengthen collaborative efforts for educational development.

A key highlight of the event was the presentation of the Adopt a Subanen Student Project (ASSP), led by Project Leader Dr. Samuel Bongcac. This initiative is under the TABANGE Framework – Adopt a Community under the Community Extension and Services Office, led by Director Ricky A. Egos, and aims to support Subanen students by addressing their educational needs, ensuring access to essential resources, and offering guidance for academic success.

The event also featured an orientation session with the Catalyst Pro Review Center, led by Prof. Ken Saluta. As the official review center partner for the School of Teacher Education (STE) for the second consecutive year, Prof. Saluta highlighted the significance of comprehensive preparation for the Board Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (BLEPT).

He encouraged students to commit time and effort to earn their professional licenses and urged parents to remain steadfast in supporting their children’s education. This effort complements the Comprehensive Assessment Response for Excellence (CARE) Framework, established under the leadership of JHCSC President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales.

Following these discussions, a formal MOA signing was attended by the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Vilma C. Grengia, Dr. Sebial, Dr. Bongcac, and Prof. Saluta. The agreement solidified partnerships to provide academic support, resources, and review programs to benefit students and faculty members.

After the signing, an orientation session was conducted by the STE faculty members to discuss the policies, objectives, and vision of the School of Teacher Education. The session aimed to equip students with the knowledge and tools to navigate their roles and responsibilities as pre-service teachers, reinforcing their commitment to academic excellence and professional readiness.

The event highlighted STE’s commitment to advancing educational development, improving student success, and strengthening partnerships that create competent and highly qualified educators. Through these strategic initiatives, the institution remains dedicated to upholding its standard of excellence in teacher education.
