Stronger & Bolder JHCSC for Quality Tertiary Education

The School of Business Management (SBM) held a two-day “SBM Fine-Dining and Modeling Experience” event on December 11-12, 2024. Themed “Taste the Runway: Where Fashion Meets the Flavor,” at the JHCSC Hostel at the Pagadian City Extension Campus, the event were spearheaded by Ms. Charmagne Merontos, course instructor for Professional Development and Applied Ethics and course instructor for HPC 101 Kitchen Essentials and Basic Food Preparation, Prof. Llanevie Azel Z. Niez, Secretary of the Council of Tourism and Hospitality Educators of Zamboanga Peninsula, with the guidance of SBM Dean Dr. Julito V. Mandac Jr., and with the support of JHCSC President, Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales. The event blended culinary arts with fashion modeling, offering a platform for students to demonstrate their skills in both fields.

JH Cerilles State College (JHCSC) participated in the 1st International Multidisciplinary Research Conference held on December 7-8, 2024, at the Mibang Hotel in Dipolog City. The conference, organized by St. Vincent’s College Graduate School, the Research and Development Office, and the Center for Community Extension and Linkages, partnered with international institutions such as Rangsit University (Thailand) and Norton University (Cambodia). It focused on the theme “Innovative Research for Sustainable Futures: Harnessing Digitalization to Advance the UN SDGs through Global Collaboration.”

The Legal Education Board (LEB) has re-issued and granted a Certificate of Government Recognition to J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) on December 12, 2024, to conduct and operate the Juris Doctor (J.D.) Program at Pagadian City Extension Campus.

During the flag-raising ceremony on December 9, 2024, the Office of Student Affairs and Services at J.H. Cerilles State College Pagadian City Annex Campus, headed by Ms. Janniece L. Magsayo, conducted a recognition program to honor the athletes and socio-cultural participants from the Pagadian Campus who brought home medals at the MASTS Friendship Games 2024, highlighting their remarkable achievements in the competitions and contributions to the event, which brought pride to the institution.

In commemoration of the 89th Anniversary of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), a simultaneous AFP-wide blood donation activity titled “Dugong Alay Mo, Sandigan ng Buhay Ko” was successfully conducted at the J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Main Campus Gymnasium on December 8, 2024. The event was spearheaded by Major General Romulo A. Manuel, PA Reserved Command, PA, with the support of San Miguel Mayor Hon. Ex D. Ocapan.

The J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Pagadian Extension Campus officially marked the Christmas season with its vibrant “Lights-on for Christmas” program on December 6, 2024. The event, which marked the lighting of the campus Christmas decorations, was led by Mrs. Janniece L. Magsayo, the Pagadian Annex DSA In-Charge.

Delegates from J.H. Cerilles State College attended the Tourism Awareness Seminar organized by the Department of Tourism (DOT). They featured the guest speaker, Ms. Precious Jane R. Alumbro from HESED Tourism Consultancy and Services. This seminar aimed to enhance knowledge in tourism and professional development among educators and practitioners in the tourism and hospitality industry.

During the Flag Raising Ceremony today, December 9, 2024, at the JHCSC Main Campus Gymnasium in Mati, San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur, medalists and coaches from both sports, led by Ms. Kathleen Jean A. Ursaiz, Sports Director, and socio-cultural events, led by Mr. Joseph B. Salimbangon, Culture and the Arts Director, received special recognition for their outstanding achievements during the MASTS Friendship Games 2024.

The MASTS Friendship Games 2024 heads of committees, coaches, trainers, venue managers, and sports and socio-cultural coordinators of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) gathered on December 6, 2024, for an Evaluation Meeting at the Pagadian City Extension Campus Hostel. The meeting was presided over by President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales to assess the success of the recently concluded MASTS 2024 event and discuss areas for improvement.

The Planning and Development Office of JHCSC, led by Dr. Cleofe D. Baterna Jr., convened for a meeting today, December 6, 2024, to discuss the institution’s Strategic Plan for 2025–2030. Held in the Conference Room, 3rd Floor, I.T. Building, Pagadian Extension Campus, the meeting was conducted under the visionary leadership of President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales. Among the attendees were Dr. Vilma C. Grengia, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Mr. Wilfredo Barnido Jr., Vice President for Administration and Finance, along with other Heads of Offices who actively participated in the discussions.
