To prepare the graduating students for the demands of the job market, the Guidance and Counseling Office of JHCSC Pagadian Campus, headed by Ms. Catherine D. Cabal, RGC, RPM, spearheaded a two-day employment coaching and mock job interview on May 28โ€“29, 2025. With the theme โ€œJourney to Harness Career Success,โ€ the event was conducted at the Mega Gym in Dao, Pagadian City.

Graduating students from the programs Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT), Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English (BSED-English), Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM), and Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies (BAELS) participated in the activity. Students from the Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship (BSEntrep) also observed the sessions.

The first day was dedicated to employment coaching, featuring expert speakers who shared valuable insights. Mr. Firdoush P. Hatab from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) discussed โ€œThe General Labor Standards,โ€ Mr. Ernesto B. Medina, Jr., covered โ€œMastering Job Search Strategies and Online Tools,โ€ Ms. Joie Mercybelle F. Capitanea presented on โ€œResume Building, Cover Letter, and Application Strategy,โ€ Ms. Junalyn D. Basinang spoke on โ€œProfessional Communication and Etiquette.โ€ Dr. Julito V. Madac, Jr. explained โ€œWorkplace Expectations and Soft Skills.โ€

The second day featured a mock job interview session that allowed students to apply what they had learned. Participants experienced realistic interview scenarios with professionals simulating employer roles, giving them valuable feedback and confidence in effectively presenting themselves. The activity aimed to simulate an actual job interview environment, helping students become more familiar with professional interactions and expectations.

This initiative marks a vital step in bridging the gap between academic preparation and real-world employment. By combining expert-led coaching with practical interview simulations, the Guidance and Counseling Office reinforces its commitment to equipping students with the confidence, knowledge, and skills needed to thrive in their future careers. The activity not only enhanced studentsโ€™ readiness for the job market but also underscored the institutionโ€™s dedication to supporting holistic student development.
