Stronger & Bolder JHCSC for Quality Tertiary Education

JHCSC joined the global community in celebrating World Tourism Day 2025 with the theme “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation” on September 29, 2025, at the JHCSC Pagadian City Extension Campus Grounds. The celebration was spearheaded by the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM) students under the leadership of their program chair, Mr. Julie R. Cabalog, with the support of the Dean of the School of Business and Management (SBM), Dr. Julito V. Mandac, Jr.

The Office of the Internationalization and External Linkages (OIEL), led by Dr. Raymund A. Indangan, OIC Director, spearheaded a Capacity-Building Workshop on Internationalization of Higher Education: Impact on Quality and Sustainability on September 26, 2025, at the JHCSC Hostel, Pagadian City Extension Campus.

J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) officials, led by President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales, together with Vice President for Administration and Finance, Mr. Wilfredo M. Barnido Jr., formally attended the 20th Congress 1st Regular Session, FY 2026 General Appropriations Bill Day on September 23, 2025. The event was held at the Speaker Prospero C. Nograles Hall, South Wing Annex Building, House of Representatives, Batasang Pambansa Complex, Quezon City.

The Administrative Council of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) held its Third Quarter Regular Meeting on September 24, 2025, at the IT Building Conference Room of the Pagadian Campus, with President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales presiding. The session brought together Vice President for Administration and Finance (VPAF) Mr. Wilfredo M. Barnido Jr., administrative officers, directors, and staff to discuss key institutional matters and initiatives.

The Academic Council of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) convened its Third Quarter Regular Meeting on September 24, 2025, at the IT Building Conference Room of the Pagadian Campus. The session was presided over by College Secretary Atty. Esther Marie S. Ringon, under the leadership of JHCSC President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales.

A historic chapter has unfolded as J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) has been officially elevated to the 𝐙𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐨𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚 𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐒𝐮𝐫 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 (𝐙𝐃𝐒𝐒𝐔) through the enactment of 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐜𝐭 𝐍𝐨. 𝟏𝟐𝟐𝟗𝟓. From its main campus in Barangay Mati, San Miguel, and its campuses in Dumingag, Lakewood, and Pagadian City, the institution now carries not only a new name but also the higher mandate and prestige of a state university.

J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC), through its Community Extension Services Office (CESO) and Research and Development Office (RDO), successfully hosted a two-day seminar on “𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧” on September 15–16, 2025, at the JHCSC Hostel, Pagadian City Extension Campus. It was organized in partnership with 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 (𝐉𝐑𝐌𝐒𝐔), aimed to foster stronger institutional linkages and promote best practices in research and extension.

The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (BSES) and Bachelor of Science in Forestry (BSF) students, together with the faculty of the School of Agriculture, Forestry and Environmental Studies (SAFES) under the leadership of Dean Dr. Emelyn D. Tormes, participated in the Tree Planting Activity 2025 organized by the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office–Provincial Local Government Unit of Zamboanga del Sur (PENRO-PLGU, ZDS). The activity was held on September 13, 2025, at Barangay Datagan, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur, as part of the celebration of the 73rd Araw ng Zamboanga del Sur.

Students of JHCSC Main Campus convened at the campus gymnasium in Mati, San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur, on September 12, 2025, for a symposium on Anti-Drug Awareness and Anti-Terrorism. The activity was organized by the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS), under the leadership of Dean Venus M. Avenido, in collaboration with the Philippine National Police (PNP) San Miguel Municipal Police Station.

The J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) formally held the oath-taking and turnover ceremony for the newly elected Supreme Student Council (SSC) officers on August 15, 2025, at the Main Campus Gymnasium. The ceremony was led by Atty. Romylyn Regidor, Chairperson of the Election Committee, under the leadership of Prof. Venus Avenido, Dean of Student Affairs. The program underscored the importance of student governance in strengthening institutional values and empowering the student body to be active partners in development.
