The School of Teacher Education (STE), led by Dean Dr. Starr Clyde L. Sebial, capped off its week-long STE Day celebration from February 17 to 21, 2025, at the JHCSC Main Campus Gymnasium in Mati, San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur. With the theme “Unleashing the Brilliance Within: Empowering Future Educators Through the Pillars of Education,” the event brought together aspiring educators to showcase their talents, skills, and camaraderie.
Led by STE Mayor Mr. Ariel D. Dumingding and D’ Mentors’ Club Mayor Ms. Maria Lolita E. Hernandez, the celebration featured five official teams. The Maestros represented the Association of English Enthusiasts (BSEd English, Main Campus), the Pedagogues represented the English Club (BSEd English, Pagadian Extension Campus), the Illuminants represented the Generalist Educators Society (BEEd), the Explorers represented the Samahan ng mga Mag-aaral sa Filipino (SAMAFIL, BSEd Filipino), and the Luminaries brought together members of the Mathematics and Science Education Society (MATHSCI).
Participants competed in dance, music, theater, visual, and literary arts, fostering individual excellence and teamwork. These events reinforced leadership, collaboration, and creativity among future educators. The healthy rivalry among teams also encouraged participants to push their limits while building meaningful connections with peers who share the same passion for education.
The celebration concluded with an awarding ceremony, recognizing outstanding individuals and teams’ achievements in various categories. The Pedagogues emerged as the overall champion for the third consecutive year, solidifying their dominance in the competition. Their historic three-peat victory was met with resounding applause, highlighting their consistency, determination, and unwavering team spirit. Victorious participants were lauded for their dedication, while all competitors were commended for their enthusiasm and sportsmanship throughout the event.
As the festivities ended, students and faculty reflected on the event as a meaningful experience that highlighted their talents and deepened their appreciation for the teaching profession. The week-long celebration inspired and motivated participants to carry forward the lessons learned, reinforcing their commitment to shaping the future as educators.
