A historic chapter has unfolded as J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) has been officially elevated to the 𝐙𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐨𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚 𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐒𝐮𝐫 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 (𝐙𝐃𝐒𝐒𝐔) through the enactment of 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐜𝐭 𝐍𝐨. 𝟏𝟐𝟐𝟗𝟓. From its main campus in Barangay Mati, San Miguel, and its campuses in Dumingag, Lakewood, and Pagadian City, the institution now carries not only a new name but also the higher mandate and prestige of a state university.
J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC), through its Community Extension Services Office (CESO) and Research and Development Office (RDO), successfully hosted a two-day seminar on “𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧” on September 15–16, 2025, at the JHCSC Hostel, Pagadian City Extension Campus. It was organized in partnership with 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 (𝐉𝐑𝐌𝐒𝐔), aimed to foster stronger institutional linkages and promote best practices in research and extension.
The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (BSES) and Bachelor of Science in Forestry (BSF) students, together with the faculty of the School of Agriculture, Forestry and Environmental Studies (SAFES) under the leadership of Dean Dr. Emelyn D. Tormes, participated in the Tree Planting Activity 2025 organized by the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office–Provincial Local Government Unit of Zamboanga del Sur (PENRO-PLGU, ZDS). The activity was held on September 13, 2025, at Barangay Datagan, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur, as part of the celebration of the 73rd Araw ng Zamboanga del Sur.

Avenido, in collaboration with the Philippine National Police (PNP) San Miguel Municipal Police Station.

The J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) formally held the oath-taking and turnover ceremony for the newly elected Supreme Student Council (SSC) officers on August 15, 2025, at the Main Campus Gymnasium. The ceremony was led by Atty. Romylyn Regidor, Chairperson of the Election Committee, under the leadership of Prof. Venus Avenido, Dean of Student Affairs. The program underscored the importance of student governance in strengthening institutional values and empowering the student body to be active partners in development.

Cerilles State College (JHCSC) employees proudly showcased their talent and won awards in multiple categories during the National Government Agency (NGA) Day, a highlight of the 73rd Araw ng Zamboanga del Sur celebration. Held on September 13, 2025, at the Mega Gym of the Provincial Government Complex in Dao, Pagadian City, the event brought together 12 government agencies for a day of friendly competition and performing-arts showcases.
The J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC), under the leadership of President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales, has earned another milestone with the issuance of a Certificate of Accreditation from the Department of Agriculture–Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) through its National Seed Quality Control Services (NSQCS).
The J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) held a two-day camp on September 5–6, 2025, at the Dapiwak Campus to map out the Land Use Development and Infrastructure Plan (LUDIP) for the D’PETALS (Dapiwak Protected Eco-Tourism-Agri Learning Site). The Planning Office, led by Director Engr. Archel Bacus organized the activity, which gathered together the D’PETALS Planning Team.
The JHCSC Health Services Unit, led by School Physician Dr. Kharlou C. Tago, in collaboration with the NSTP Office headed by NSTP Director Mr. Joniel C. Calibo, successfully held an HIV/AIDS Symposium on September 5, 2025, at Balangasan Gymnasium, Pagadian City. The event was organized in partnership with the Margos sa Tubig Regional Hospital (MRH) with the theme, “Breaking the Stigma, Building the Future,” emphasizing the importance of HIV/AIDS education and awareness.
The J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) – School of Law Supreme Student Council (SSC), led by President Princess Eve Quiamno, successfully convened its Annual General Assembly Meeting on September 6, 2025. The event brought together Juris Doctor students from both the four-year and five-year curricula, serving as a venue to address student concerns and reinforce academic and organizational initiatives within the college.
