The J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) formally held the oath-taking and turnover ceremony for the newly elected Supreme Student Council (SSC) officers on August 15, 2025, at the Main Campus Gymnasium. The ceremony was led by Atty. Romylyn Regidor, Chairperson of the Election Committee, under the leadership of Prof. Venus Avenido, Dean of Student Affairs. The program underscored the importance of student governance in strengthening institutional values and empowering the student body to be active partners in development.

Notable attendees included SASS Department Heads from JHCSCโ€™s Main, Dumingag, Canuto, and Pagadian campusesโ€”Prof. Sheeria Mylen Wong-Luna, Mr. Roldan L. Cultura, Ms. Gina R. Alinton, and Ms. Janniece Magsayo, respectively. Incumbent SSC President and Student Trustee Hon. Cyrusdirk Elle, faculty, staff, and the newly elected officers also witnessed the turnover of leadership.

In his message, Hon. Elle expressed gratitude to the institution for the trust given to him throughout his term. He formally turned over the symbolic key of responsibility to his successor, marking the end of his leadership and the start of a new administration.

Newly elected SSC President Mr. Benjie T. Jimenez, the first SSC President from the Dumingag Campus, delivered his acceptance speech, emphasizing that he would serve not just as an individual but as โ€œa voice for the representation of the JHCSCians.โ€ He further stressed the need for the student council to work closely with college officials and faculty to ensure the progress of the institution.

Prof. Avenido challenged the new set of officers to transform leadership into excellence and to embody the values of RISEโ€”Responsible, Innovative, Service-oriented, and Excellence-driven Student Leaders. This challenge was warmly accepted by newly elected SSC Vice-President Ms. Dawn Majan on behalf of the council, who committed to carrying forward the responsibilities entrusted to them in the service of the student body.

The ceremony concluded with a renewed commitment to student leadership, marking the beginning of another chapter for the SSC as it pledged to uphold its duties and continue fostering student engagement across JHCSC campuses.

Soar high, J.H. Cerilles State College!
