A faculty member from the School of Teacher Education (STE), Ralph R. Magumpara, MSciEd, is currently participating in a distinguished international study exchange program at Chiba University, Japan, from February 5 to 11, 2025. This opportunity is supported by the Chiba University, Japan, which has played a pivotal role in facilitating his involvement in this global academic initiative. The program he participated in was the “Young Human Resources and Development of Teaching Materials for Physical Science Education” program, a key component of the Sakura Science Exchange Program.

President Edgardo H. Rosales led an executive meeting with Syntegral Global Solutions on January 7, 2025, at the Conference Hall, 3rd floor of the I.T. Building, Pagadian City Extension Campus. The discussion centered on finalizing the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for a 10-hectare lot in Sinonok, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur, which will serve as a collaborative agricultural initiative site.

The School of Teacher Education (STE), under the leadership of Dean Dr. Starr Clyde S. Sebial, hosted a Consultation, Orientation, and Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing on February 6, 2025, at the JHCSC Main Campus Gymnasium in Mati San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur. The event brought together faculty, staff, students, parents, and institutional partners to discuss academic initiatives and strengthen collaborative efforts for educational development.

The J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) hosted the official launch of National Arts Month 2025 on February 7, 2025, at the Main Campus Gymnasium. With the theme “Ani ng Sining, Diwa at Damdamin,” the event was spearheaded by Mr. Joseph B. Salimbangon, Culture and the Arts Director, and facilitated by the Supreme Student Council (SSC) Officers under the leadership of Mr. Earl Ryan D. Siso, SSC Governor. Main Campus Director, Mrs. Bemia Snooky A. Beboso, also supported the event.

The School of Business and Management (SBM) of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) conducted a seminar and workshop on February 6-7, 2025, at the JHCSC Hostel. The event, part of the Barangay Empowerment and Good Governance under the TABANGE Framework, was led by Extension Director Prof. Ricky A. Egos and supported by JHCSC President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales. Project Leaders Maricar P. Rellon, MBA-HRM, and Dr. Myrna V. Ceño, DBM-HM, along with Dr. Julito V. Mandac, Jr., Dean of SBM, facilitated the seminar to enhance entrepreneurial skills, financial literacy, and professional competencies.

J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) proudly secured the overall 3rd runner-up position in the 13th Federation of Agriculture Students in Mindanao (FASMin) Congress, held on February 3-7, 2025, at Central Mindanao University (CMU), Maramag, Bukidnon. The outstanding performance of the School of Agriculture, Forestry, and Environmental Studies (SAFES) delegates from both the Main and Dumingag Campuses exemplified their hard work, passion, resilience, and excellence throughout the competition.

J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) takes pride in the representation of Ms. Frett Niñajale Monsalud Garcenes and Mr. Ariston Anghag, both BS Environmental Science students, at the prestigious Mr. & Miss FASMin 2025 pageant, held during the 13th Federation of Agriculture Students in Mindanao (FASMin) Congress at Central Mindanao University (CMU).

In compliance with National Budget Memorandum (NBM) No. 153, also known as the National Budget Call for FY 2026, J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) President Edgardo H. Rosales, Ed.D., JD, led the presentation of the institution’s proposed programs and projects (PAPs) during the Regional Development Council (RDC) IX Joint Advisory Committee (AdCom) and Executive Committee (ExCom) Review of Priority PAPs for FY 2026 on February 5, 2025, at the Grand Astoria Hotel, Zamboanga City.

Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, Chair of the Committee on Higher, Technical, and Vocational Education, sponsored several education bills to enhance tertiary education nationwide. Among these was the Senate’s approval on the second reading of House Bill No. 9315, on February 4, 2024, which seeks to upgrade J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) in Barangay Mati, Municipality of San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur, into a state university to be known as Zamboanga del Sur State University (ZDSSU), with corresponding appropriations.

The School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) hosted a two-day preparatory seminar for its students at the J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Main Campus Gymnasium on January 30 and February 1. The seminar was themed “Skills for Success in the Workplace,” which aims to equip students with valuable skills for their upcoming internships. The event was organized by Ms. Jovey P. Medina, MPA, a faculty member from SAS, who served as the seminar coordinator, with the support of the SAS Dean, Benjamin B. Mangila, Ph. D.
