To mark the Suicide Prevention Awareness Month Culmination, the J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Lakewood Campus, under the leadership of Prof. Ricky A. Egos, the Administrator, hosted a program aimed at raising awareness and fostering mental health support for students and which integrated the Oath Taking Ceremony of the Student Peer Facilitators held on September 30, 2024, at the Brgy—Poblacion Covered Court in Lakewood participated by faculty, staff, and students.
The culmination program, which includes a lecture on suicide prevention and awareness and a poster-making contest, was spearheaded by the Guidance and Counseling Office of JHCSC Main Campus, led by Mrs. Jonah T. Salaguste, RGC, RPm. The Student Peer Facilitators from Main Campus helped facilitate this activity, with additional support from College Librarian Ms. Rudilyn C. Dayan, RL, MLIS, and Ms. Cristy Sustomayor Ujaji, Canuto Campus Guidance In-Charge.
During the event, Prof. Egos delivered an inspiring message, urging students to share their problems and experiences openly and to seek help when needed. He emphasized the importance of community and connection in preventing suicidal thoughts.
This initiative highlighted the commitment of JHCSC, under the leadership of President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales, to cultivate a supportive academic environment for all students. -EMP
