The School of Teacher Education (STE) hosted an orientation and pinning ceremony for the Class of 2024-2025 pre-service teachers on September 30, 2024, at the Main Campus Gymnasium in Mati, San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur. The event was spearheaded by Dr. Starr Clyde Sebial, Dean of the School of Teacher Education, in collaboration with the Department of Education (DepEd) – Division of Zamboanga del Sur, under the leadership of Dr. Jeanelyn A. Aleman, CESO VI, Schools Division Superintendent.
A total of three hundred and eighty (380) pre-service teachers were officially pinned, including 159 from the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd), 104 from BSEd English, 74 from BSEd Filipino, 35 from BSEd Science, and eight from BSEd Math. Among the attendees were Dr. Starr Clyde Sebial, the internship supervising instructors (ISIs), DepEd officials, school principals, STE faculty, pre-service teachers, and their parents.
The partnership between JHCSC and the DepEd was officially formalized by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA). This significant agreement marks the beginning of a collaborative effort to enhance the educational experience and opportunities. The MoA outlines a shared commitment to promoting quality education, fostering innovative teaching practices, and ensuring that pre-service teachers are well-equipped to meet classroom demands.
This event aims to equip future educators with the knowledge and support necessary for their professional journey, ensuring they are prepared to meet the challenges of modern teaching. Through comprehensive orientation sessions, pre-service teachers will gain essential insights into effective teaching methodologies, classroom management techniques, and the latest educational technologies vital in today’s learning environments. They will also have the opportunity to explore various pedagogical approaches and engage in collaborative learning experiences, enhancing their readiness to address the diverse needs of their future students. -RMOJ
