The JHCSC School of Law hosted a Testimonial and Appreciation Night honoring the September 2025 BAR Examination passers on February 1, 2026, at Pavilion Hall in Dao, Pagadian City. The event celebrated the academic achievement and perseverance of newly admitted lawyers who successfully hurdled one of the country’s most challenging professional examinations. It was organized by the School of Law Supreme Student Council (SoL–SSC) under the leadership of its president, Warson I. Buen, and held under the guidance of School of Law Dean Atty. Romylyn O. Regidor, with the support of JHCSC President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales, represented by his executive secretary, Ms. Prym Crio D. Postrero, and Provincial Governor Hon. Divina Grace C. Yu, represented by Hon. Michelle Espina-Villanueva, Board Member of the 1st District of Zamboanga del Sur.
The program featured performances by guests from Zamboanga del Sur National High School, the Melengas Dance Ensemble, and Zambo Superstars. Their performances contributed to a lively and celebratory atmosphere, setting the tone for an evening that balanced festivity with reflection on the sacrifices behind the BAR passers’ success.
One of the highlights of the night was the sharing of personal testimonies from the BAR passers, who candidly recounted the challenges, sacrifices, and hardships they endured throughout law school and the BAR review process. Their stories reflected resilience and determination, emphasizing that success came only after overcoming moments of doubt, failure, and exhaustion.
The testimonies also served as a source of inspiration for aspiring BAR candidates in attendance. The passers encouraged future examinees to persevere despite setbacks and to remain committed to their goals, stressing that failure should not dictate one’s future but instead serve as a stepping stone toward growth and eventual success.
To commemorate the milestone, Dean Atty. Regidor presented tokens of appreciation to the BAR passers in recognition of their hard work and dedication. In her message, she reflected on witnessing the full spectrum of students’ journeys, from tears to triumphs, emphasizing the powerful influence educators have in shaping lives. She noted that a dean’s response can either escalate or de-escalate a crisis and can humanize or dehumanize students, urging that the night be one of peace, humor, and celebration.
Hon. Espina-Villanueva, representing Governor Yu, delivered an inspirational message, stating that “once meant for you, it will find its way to you.” She shared her journey against all odds and reflected on the importance of understanding one’s purpose in pursuing a career in law, reminding students to never stop learning, growing, and striving to become the best versions of themselves.
Ms. Postrero also delivered messages of encouragement on behalf of President Rosales. She emphasized that the gathering was not merely a celebration of achievements but a testament to perseverance and dreams fulfilled. Dr. Rosales’ message highlighted his own struggles as a law student and expressed that the success of the BAR passers represented a dream he was unable to achieve himself, yet fulfilled through them. SOL Faculty Member Judge Maria Theresa P. Llagas-Oh also reminded the audience not to give up and emphasized that the legal profession is a calling to justice, encouraging future lawyers to embody the values of listening to clients, being amiable, exercising wisdom, yearning for justice, showing empathy, and acting responsibly.
The event ended as a night of gratitude, reflection, and celebration, honoring the achievements of the new lawyers while inspiring aspiring members of the legal profession to pursue justice with integrity and perseverance.
