PIA-IX Regional Director with PIA-ZDS Staff visit JHCSC for Collaboration Discussion

Regional Director of Philippine Information Agency Region IX (PIA-IX), Ms. Noemi B. Edaga, along with the PIA-ZDS Staff Mr. Harvy T. Bangayan, Information Officer, and Ms. Clennkei C. Peñalosa, Government Information Center Coordinator, conducted a courtesy visit at J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Pagadian Annex on September 19, 2024, facilitated by the Public Affairs Office staff accompanied by Dr. Joel M. Sabellano, Jr., Chief Administrative Officer. During the visit, the potential areas of collaboration between PIA and JHCSC were discussed, and insights about the formation of iVolunteers (iVolts) within the institution were explored.
The Information Volunteer Network, initiated by the PIA, engages school-based volunteers to connect universities and colleges with government information dissemination and advocacy efforts. The core group must be composed of at least three (3) per university/college: one network coordinator (can be the adviser) and two information volunteers (active campus leaders/journalists). PIA Staff in the Province or City will organize this through a scheduled orientation. Subsequently, the PIA will continue to contact the network volunteers, providing them with information to disseminate within their institutions.

Senior Information Assistant Mrs. Edelyn M. Pelaez, representing PAO Director Mr. Homer T. Lao, and CAO Dr. Joel M. Sabellano, Jr., on behalf of Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales, JHCSC President, responded positively to the proposed collaboration with PIA to foster a culture of volunteerism among students through iVolts, which aims to mobilize youth in various community and nation-building activities.
Following the discussion, the PAO staff led the PIA visitors to the Campus Administrator’s Office at the Pagadian Annex, where they met Dr. Patricia D. Bahian, who graciously welcomed and thanked them for their visit and looked forward to future collaborations. -EMP
