The School of Nursing (SON) of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) celebrated the 16th Pinning Ceremony of Batch Panacea on May 26, 2026, at the Pavilion Hall, Provincial Center. With the theme “Batch Panaceans’ Pins of Purpose: Embodying Excellence, Compassion and Resilience,” the event was spearheaded by SON Dean Prof. Marjo S. Malabanan, MN, with the support of Pagadian Campus Director Dr. Patricia D. Bahian and JHCSC President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales, represented by Dr. Vilma C. Grengia, Vice President for Academic Affairs.
The ceremony gathered representatives from partner healthcare institutions, including Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center, Aisah Medical Hospital, and Community Health Center, as well as SON faculty and staff, parents, and guests who witnessed the milestone event. The gathering highlighted the collective support of the academic and healthcare communities in preparing future nursing professionals for the demands of the profession.
A total of 118 fourth-year nursing students were formally pinned during the ceremony, signifying their transition to a more advanced stage of nursing education and clinical practice. The program featured the blessing of pins, presentation of candidates for pinning, and the formal pinning ceremony, each underscoring the students’ dedication, perseverance, and readiness to assume greater responsibilities in patient care.
Serving as the guest speaker, Dr. Daisy R. Palompon, Dean of the College of Nursing of Cebu Normal University, emphasized that the nursing pin symbolizes the students’ commitment to the noble profession of nursing and their responsibility to uphold its values. She encouraged the candidates to remain dedicated to providing quality healthcare services and to carry the ideals of the profession wherever they may serve. She concluded her message by saying, “Padayon, Future Nurses. The world awaits your healing hands and compassionate hearts, and may God bless you all.”
Dr. Grengia likewise delivered an inspirational message, reminding the students that nurses should embody excellence, compassion, integrity, resilience, and professionalism in their duties. She emphasized the importance of patient-centered care, ethical practice, and lifelong learning, urging the future nurses to become instruments of healing, comfort, and hope in the communities they will serve.
The event concluded with the singing of the batch song, “Try Everything,” by Batch Panacea. More than a ceremonial tradition, the pinning ceremony marked a significant milestone in the students’ academic journey, symbolizing their readiness to enter the clinical setting and reaffirming JHCSC’s commitment to producing competent, compassionate, and service-oriented nursing professionals who are prepared to meet the evolving needs of the healthcare sector.
Soar high, J.H. Cerilles State College!
