In line with its commitment to producing career-ready graduates, the Guidance and Counseling Office of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Main Campus, under the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS), successfully conducted the two-day Employment Coaching & Mock-Job Interview 2026 on May 14–15, 2026. Anchored on the theme, “Career Ready Graduates: Building Confidence for Real-world Opportunities,” the activity aimed to strengthen the employability skills, confidence, and professional readiness of graduating students as they prepare to transition from academic life to the workforce. The initiative also served as a platform for students to gain exposure to actual recruitment and hiring processes while bridging academic preparation with professional employment demands.
The activity gathered graduating students from various academic programs, including BSED-English, BSED-Math, BSED-Science, BSED-Filipino, BEED, BSIT, BSCE, BSABE, BAELS, BAPOS, BSSW, BSA, BSES, and BSF. The event was attended and supported by key officials and academic leaders of the College, including Ms. Venus M. Avenido, MAED, RGC, Dean of Student Affairs and Services and OIC Guidance Counselor; Dr. Trinidad Abapo, Ph.D., Campus Director; Dr. Starr Clyde L. Sebial, Ph.D., STE Dean; Dr. Emelyn D. Tormes, Ph.D., SAFES Dean; Ms. Elsie S. Ybañez, MSIT, SCS Dean; Dr. Benjamin B. Mangila, Ph.D., SAS Dean; Engr. Perla A. Rivera, SET Dean; and Dr. Mark E. Patalinghug, RCrim, SOCJE Dean.
The program also welcomed representatives from partner agencies and local government officials, including Hon. Ex D. Ocapan, Mayor of San Miguel, and Hon. Victoria C. Yu, Congresswoman, whose support emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in preparing students for future employment opportunities and workforce development.
The first day of the activity featured employment-coaching sessions led by invited resource speakers from various professional fields. Devonni H. Torrecampo, RGC, LPT, RPsy, PhD, discussed “Personal & Professional Development for Career Readiness,” focusing on building confidence, professionalism, and workplace preparedness. Atty. Sheena Jane Bastasa Debucon, who delivered a lecture on “Job Application Essentials: Hiring Processes, Resume Writing, and Cover Letter Preparation,” equips students with practical knowledge on employment application requirements and recruitment procedures. Meanwhile, Mr. Firduhsh P. Hatab, RN, LPT, discussed “Understanding the Labor Market and Employment Opportunities,” providing insights into current workforce trends and career opportunities.
The second day highlighted the Mock-Job Interview sessions, where graduating students experienced simulated recruitment and interview processes designed to develop their communication skills, interview confidence, and professional presentation. The activity also allowed students to receive feedback and guidance from evaluators and participating professionals, giving them a realistic understanding of employer expectations and workplace standards.
Through the Employment Coaching & Mock-Job Interview 2026, the Guidance and Counseling Office reaffirmed its commitment to empowering JHCSCian graduates with the competencies, confidence, and career readiness necessary to thrive in today’s competitive professional environment.
