The MASTS Friendship Games 2024 heads of committees, coaches, trainers, venue managers, and sports and socio-cultural coordinators of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) gathered on December 6, 2024, for an Evaluation Meeting at the Pagadian City Extension Campus Hostel. The meeting was presided over by President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales to assess the success of the recently concluded MASTS 2024 event and discuss areas for improvement.

President Rosales began the meeting by congratulating all attendees for their hard work and dedication to making the event successful, acknowledging their sleepless nights and tireless efforts. Moreover, President Rosales highlighted the significant contribution of the Provincial Government Office of Zamboanga del Sur, led by Governor Victor J. Yu, supported by 1st District Representative Hon. Divina Grace C. Yu and 2nd District Representative Hon. Jeyzel Victoria C. Yu. The provincial government sponsored the fireworks display during the opening ceremony, provided essential support for event facilities, and deployed an operational team to safeguard all the participants.

One of the anticipated challenges was the water supply from the beginning of preparation for the MASTS 2024 event. However, JHCSC, in partnership with the Provincial Government Office and with the initiative of the City Government of Pagadian, successfully addressed this issue, ensuring a reliable water supply throughout the competition.

JHCSC secured 13th place in the sports events among the 31 participating SUCs, a rank which President Rosales described as a still commendable achievement. He said that recruitment, training, and actual performance are the key factors in securing medals in a competition. He also emphasized the importance of year-round sustainable training for team and individual events to win gold medals in future competitions.

President Rosales announced a new incentive program to motivate coaches and participants further. Coaches of athletes/contenders who earned gold, silver, and bronze medals were awarded cash incentives of ₱1,000, ₱700, and ₱500, respectively.

During the meeting, coaches received incentives based on the number of athletes under their charge who won medals. Medal-winning athletes/contenders will also receive cash incentives, which will be presented during their respective campus flag-raising ceremonies on December 9, 2024.

However, other event team members, including heads of committees, coaches whose athletes did not win medals, venue managers, sports and socio-cultural coordinators, and the Event Management Team (EMT), will receive a certificate of recognition during JHCSC’s Christmas Party on December 14, 2024.

President Rosales stated that the Event Management Team (EMT) training of JHCSC will be prioritized in 2025 to improve their performance at future events hosted by the institution. The EMT will manage and coordinate all major events at the institution to ensure smooth execution and promptly address any possible issues and concerns.

The evaluation meeting also addressed other observations and challenges faced during the MASTS Friendship Game 2024, serving as a benchmark to help JHCSC remain a capable and accommodated host for sports and socio-cultural events in the future.
