On December 5, 2024, the Western Mindanao Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (WESMAARRDEC) awarded J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) a Plaque of Recognition for its long-standing commitment and contributions to the Consortium. The award, presented by WESMAARRDEC Director Dr. Leonilo B. Abella and RRDCC Chair Dr. Ma. Carla A. Ochotorena, was given during a ceremony at the CTE Social Hall of Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) in Zamboanga City, acknowledging the college’s dedication to innovation and excellence in agricultural research.
Additionally, JHCSC received a Certificate of Recognition for its exemplary role as the implementing agency of the “Enhancing and Upgrading JH Cerilles State College ZamPen Native Chicken Project R&D.” The project was led by Dr. Moises Glenn G. Tangalin, Dumingag Campus Director, focused on breeding and selecting ZamPen Native Chicken, a vital initiative to develop a pure line of native chickens in the Zamboanga Peninsula and neighboring regions.
JHCSC’s efforts were pivotal to WESMAARRDEC’s success, contributing to the Consortium’s 1st Runner-Up position at the 2024 Ugnay Award for the Most Outstanding R&D Consortium. The award was presented during the field validation held from July 31 to August 2, 2024.
This recognition highlights the significant contributions of JHCSC to the advancement of agricultural research, underscoring its impact on the growth and development of the institution. Through its ongoing involvement in WESMAARRDEC’s initiatives, the college continues strengthening its position as a regional agricultural education and research leader.
