The Department of Science and Technology IX hosted the Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW) 2024, a three-day celebration of Science, Technology, and Innovation. With the theme, βSiyensya, Teknolohiya, at Inobasyon: Kabalikat sa Matatag, Maginhawa, at Panatag na Kinabukasan,β the event was held from November 20β22, 2024, at the Juanito Bruno Gymnasium, Western Mindanao State University, Zamboanga City.
The event drew 7,866 participants from diverse institutions, underscoring the regionβs commitment to harnessing science and technology for societal growth. Among those in attendance were representatives from the JH Cerilles State College (JHCSC), including Dr. Rosanilio M. Yagos, BSES Program Coordinator, and Mr. Ruel S. Lasagas, College Research Director. Their involvement highlights JHCSCβs active role in embracing technological innovation and fostering collaboration across institutions.
The activity emphasized the crucial role of science, technology, and innovation in fostering inclusive growth and sustainable development, focusing on green technologies and eco-friendly practices. It also showcased innovative projects and initiatives to advance scientific progress and enhance disaster preparedness across the region.
By participating in this event, JHCSC, under the dynamic leadership of President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales, demonstrated its commitment to innovation and sustainability for a stable and prosperous future. This involvement also creates opportunities for the School of Forestry, Agriculture, and Environmental Studies (SAFES) to adopt green technologies, enhance research, and strengthen its role in addressing environmental challenges and advancing sustainability.
