As the highly anticipated Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools (MASTS) Friendship Games 2024 came to a successful close on November 29, a closing ceremony was held at the Provincial Volleyball Field to honor the dedication and hard work of the operational team that ensured the events concluded peacefully.

Hon. Glendell I. Oyo-a, JHCSC Alumni Trustee and Event Management Commander, and Col. Ronie G. Villanueva, RET, Head of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PZDRRMO), led the ceremony, accompanied by the members of the Event Management Team (EMT) from J.H. Cerilles State College headed by Dr. Joel S. Sabellano and the Provincial Government Office (PGO) of Zamboanga del Sur.

During the closing ceremony, Hon. Oyo-a highlighted the significant role played by the operational teams in maintaining peace and order throughout the event. Although only half of the operational team could attend the ceremony due to ongoing duties at various locations, such as billeting areas of delegates outside the Provincial Complex, the Event Management Team expressed immense gratitude for their sacrifices and service.

The MASTS 2024 Friendship Games saw the participation of over 9,000 delegates from 31 State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) across Mindanao; the operational team worked around the clock to ensure safety, order, and seamless coordination. Teams from the 53rd Infantry Battalion, PNP-Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Office, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and the Coast Guard were deployed across the provincial complex to delegate billeting areas, safeguarding the athletes, coaches, kitchen personnel, and spectators.
