The Lakewood Campus, under the leadership of Prof. Ricky A. Egos, Campus Administrator, hosted a Gala Night for “Kasugiran 2024” on October 9, 2024, at the Municipal Gymnasium in Poblacion, Lakewood, Zamboanga del Sur. This event is part of a series of acquaintance parties held across all JHCSC campuses. Attendees showcased their creativity by wearing black and red-themed outfits, an initiative led by the Supreme Student Council (SSC) and SSC Governor Mr. Ralph Edward Trapa, in collaboration with Ms. Kleener Joy Pates, Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) In-charge.
Hon. Dang Mariano, Board Member of the 2nd District in Zamboanga del Sur, and Hon. Adel Mie Mirrar, Barangay Captain of Poblacion Lakewood, were among the attendees, along with deans, program chairs, faculty, staff, and students from various programs, including the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED), Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies (BAELS), Bachelor of Technical-Vocational Teacher Education (BTVTED), Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLE), BS in Information Technology (BSIT), BS in Industrial Technology (BIT), and students from the High School Department.
A significant oath-taking ceremony for the newly elected officers took place during the party. Hon. Cyrusdirk Elle, Student Trustee, led the induction, emphasizing the responsibilities and commitment of leadership. Following the induction, the outgoing SSC President, Mr. Exvirgil Pulgo, formally handed over the key of responsibility to the newly elected SSC Governor, Mr. Ralph Edward Trapa. This symbolic gesture represented the transition of leadership and the trust placed in the new officers to uphold the values and mission of the student council.
The event’s highlight was a lively series of competitions that captivated the audience, including a Pop Dance Contest, a Cosplay Extravaganza, and the prestigious Mr. and Ms. Kasugiran 2024 pageant. Representatives from BTVTED-FSM were crowned during the pageant, further adding to the excitement and celebrating the spirit of the occasion, making it a memorable night to remember. -RMOJ
