In preparation for natural disasters, JHCSC conducted an earthquake drill in participation with the 3rd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) across all JHCSC campuses on September 26, 2024. The drill aims to equip every JHCSCian with the skills and awareness to respond effectively to earthquakes and enhance overall preparedness.
The JHCSC Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), led by Director Jerry A. Redoblado, facilitated the simultaneous drill in the Main Campus and Pagadian Annex. Attendees included Dr. Vilma C. Grengia, Vice President for Academic Affairs, heads of offices, campus administrators, DRRMO personnel and student volunteers, faculty, staff, students, and barangay officials led by Hon. Marvin Calonod from Barangay Mati, San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur. Their presence reflects the strong collaboration between the institution and the local community, demonstrating a shared commitment to disaster readiness.
By participating in the drill, individuals gained hands-on experience with safety protocols, helping them internalize these procedures for real-life emergencies. The goal is to inform and foster a culture of preparedness and responsibility, ensuring everyone understands the importance of remaining calm, evacuating safely, preparing emergency kits, communicating with authorities, and always remembering to execute the “duck, cover, and hold.” This initiative seeks to create a culture of resilience and readiness across all JHCSC campuses and the surrounding community. -RMOJ
