Strong winds and heavy rainfall hit Pagadian City today, September 13, 2024, and caused significant damage within the perimeter of the JHCSC Pagadian Annex. A power pole fell right in front of the JHCSC Pagadian Annex, triggering a domino effect that resulted in the collapse of all other nearby power poles on that street. A nearby tree was also toppled due to the incident.
The fallen posts and tree damaged two motorcycles parked and an SUV in the vicinity. Thankfully, no people were injured during the incident, due to efficient action on the part of the authorities.
Mr. Jayvan Jay Insic, affiliated with the JHCSC Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), promptly took action and played a vital role in aiding both the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and both City and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices in the removal of debris and the restoration of traffic flow on the street.
Officials are presently evaluating the comprehensive scope of the destruction and have advised residents to take precautions during extreme weather events. Both the City and Provincial administrations remains vigilant in monitoring developments and is endeavoring to reinstate normalcy at the earliest opportunity.
