A total of 181 student-athletes from the J.H. Cerilles State College, one among the biggest delegations, are set to compete in the 25 Sports Events for the Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools (MASTS) Games 2022 that commenced yesterday, November 9 up until November 13, 2022, at the DOrSU campus, Mati City, Davao Oriental.
With around 10, 000 student-participants, coaches, officials and visitors from 32 state universities and colleges from six regions in Mindanao took part in the MASTS weeklong Games.
Twenty-five (25) sports disciplines are included in the calendar, including the athletics — the centerpiece event of any multi-sports tournament — badminton, basketball, baseball, beach volleyball, chess, dance sports, e-sports, football/soccer, karatedo, lawn tennis, mountain bike, pencak silat, pickleball, softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, and volleyball.
The JHCSC Sports Delegation was led by President Mary Jocelyn Villejo Battung represented by OIC- Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Dr. Joel M. Sabellano with the College Sports Director Ms. Mary Joan C. Eta along with 26 coaches and 10 officials in a grand entrance of the participating SUCs as well as the Officials of Davao Oriental province, Mati city and the host SUC the Davao Oriental State University in the Opening Program held on November 9, 2022 at the DoRSU Grand Stadium, Mati City.
The host SUC, Davao Oriental State University (DoRSU) has sought the assistance and partnership of the Davao Oriental Provincial Government and Mati City Government for the hosting of the event, a major athletic competition among tertiary state schools and universities in Mindanao.
