The Health Service Unit of J.H. Cerilles State College (Pagadian Extension Campus), under the leadership of Clinic In-Charge Niko Marie T. Casiñas, RN, conducted a Measles Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity (MR SIA) from February 10 to February 11, 2026, in response to a call for assistance from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). Demonstrating its strong commitment to public health and community service, JHCSC answered the call with the support of Pagadian Campus Director, Dr. Patricia D. Bahian. The volunteering initiative was held in Barangay Tiguma, Zamboanga del Sur, to strengthen the government’s immunization campaign and ensure broader protection against measles and rubella, particularly among vulnerable community members.

The team coordinated with local officials and health workers in Barangay Tiguma to facilitate the smooth implementation of the immunization drive. Proper documentation was also undertaken for official records, reports, and information dissemination, highlighting the collaborative efforts and active community participation throughout the campaign.

The Health Service Unit was likewise accompanied by third-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) students who actively assisted during the activity. Their involvement provided valuable hands-on experience in community health nursing, enabling them to apply their academic knowledge in a real public health setting. Through teamwork and shared dedication, the MR SIA volunteering activity reflected JHCSC’s continued commitment to responsive service and meaningful community engagement.

Soar high, J.H. Cerilles State College!
