An Ash Wednesday service was conducted by Our Lady of Fatima Parish Church for the students and staff of the Pagadian City Extension Campus, under the leadership of Dr. Patricia D. Bahian, Campus Director, on February 18, 2026, at the Conference Room, 3rd Floor of the IT Building. The religious activity, held exclusively for baptized Catholics, brought together members of the campus community to solemnly observe the beginning of the Lenten season, a sacred time for prayer, reflection, and spiritual renewal.
Ash Wednesday marks the start of Lent in the Catholic faith, 40 days of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving in preparation for Holy Week. During the service, participants received ashes on their foreheads as a symbol of repentance and humility, signifying human mortality and the call to turn away from sin. The observance served as a reminder of the faithful’s spiritual responsibility to reflect on their lives and renew their commitment to God.
The campus community participated in the rite in an atmosphere of silence and reverence, reflecting a shared recognition of the season’s spiritual significance. The observance highlighted the value of setting aside time for prayer and reflection, urging Christian believers to strengthen their faith, embrace more deeply the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, and pursue repentance and reconciliation with God throughout the Lenten journey.
